minus-squaredelirious_owllinkfedilinkarrow-up2arrow-down1·7 months agoLithium isn’t used for grid batteries because weight doesn’t matter. Grid batteries with lead acid last 3 decades. Does this one last longer?
minus-squarezik@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up3·7 months agoLithium is used in grid storage: Hawaii Ventura County Collie Hornsdale Bouldercombe Geelong And that’s just what I could find in a couple of minutes.
minus-squaredelirious_owllinkfedilinkarrow-up1arrow-down3·7 months agoAgain, that doesn’t matter since the battery doesn’t move. This is a grid battery
minus-squareAllero@lemmy.todaycakelinkfedilinkarrow-up1·7 months agoThe question is then whether it’s cheaper to buy LiFePos instead of lead acid or to install more solar panels.
minus-squareAllero@lemmy.todaycakelinkfedilinkarrow-up1·7 months agoAgreed - it’s not that there are no space constraints at all.
minus-squarecapital@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·7 months agoYou’re thinking of density. Efficiency certainly matters.
