In Islam you are to give 2.5% of your income to the poor, not the church. This is called zakat.

It would be more accurate if they showed a picture of Russell M Nelson. I grew up Mormon and if you didn’t pay your 10%, it didn’t matter how little you made. You could be barred from taking the sacrament, participating in blessings, and prevented from going to the temple.

Not only that, but you get to claim your tithe as a deduction so you can pay even less taxes.
We were always so poor growing up, relatively speaking, we had a decent standard of living. Never had any money for toys and vacations, but when that collection basket came around we somehow always had enough to donate at least a twenty. Sometimes I even got to drop it in the basket. All for the privilege of being brainwashed and bored out of my mind for a couple of hours every Sunday.
