These threads used to be really useful back on Reddit.
I’m currently finishing off full app translations for the next release along with lots of the usual bug fixes.
What should I prioritise next?
Cheers, Lj
Client-site “multicommunities” would be nice. A way for me to group multiple communities into a single feed like multireddits.
Oh this, like God mode 😜
Even better if this could be a lemmy feature I think, but client-side would be good too
fairly minor thing, but can you detect from sync whether a home instance allows downvotes? mine does not, but sync still displays the unusable downvote button on everything
A few features I would love to see:
-
A way to view groups of multiple communities in a single feed. Like a multicommunity. A workaround right now is to have multiple accounts, which is less than ideal.
-
A way to view content from multiple accounts in a single feed. Like a universal feed.
-
An easier way to have the same settings apply to multiple accounts.
-
A way to block instances or communities.
Regarding #3: a way to copy/synchronize subscriptions between accounts.
I use a main account and a backup account on another instance in case the main instance is down, so I want those to have the same subscriptions. Manually synching them would be fine (maybe with options like copy everything, mirror the subscriptions, make sure B does not contain the same as A, etc.).
What he/she/they said 👍
You can filter instances and communities. For clarity, you mean blocking all users from those instances from your feed/comments? Do you also mean blocking all users from a community from showing up? If so that seems harder.

When browsing “local” or “all”, it would be nice to have some kind of indicator next to the community name to let you know if you’ve already subscribed or not. I browse “all” sometimes looking for new communities to sub to and I click through to find out I’m already subbed often.
I think something as simple as being able to set a different color for subbed communities would work well and be enough to stand out at a glance.
I second this. Especially useful as you could be following an exact or similarly named community and not notice it’s on a different instance.
Definitely, until or if we ever get a way to federate communitied together, it would be nice to see at a glance when you run across one you’re not subbed to and quickly sub to it.
Or an option to browse all non-subscribed.
Oh this would also be great. I think both options would be nice so you could browse non subbed when you are looking for what you’re missing specifically but also have the indicator so you can still browse and if something catches your interest, you can sub.
yes i would like this.
Block users by instance:
Yes please!
Hey LJ, do you think you could also add the possibility to import/export (or at least copy) my blocked keywords so that I can share the list with others online?
My biggest feature request is an option to view upvotes and downvotes separately rather than as one combined number. Ideally the current combined method would remain an option as well.
Comments collapsing down not up.
I.e. I read a long comment, collapse it and then don’t have to scroll up to read the next one.
Related, collapsing the parent comment as well, not just the children.
You can already do that
This is what happens when I long pressed on my own comment to collapse it. I’m asking to have the comment that I long press also have its comment body hidden. Is that a setting somewhere?
Edit: It’s a toggle option in settings, search for “collapse”.
I’m pretty new here. Thanks to your post learned they collapse at all - kept trying to collapse them the way relay did for reddit. And had just decided oh well guess they don’t collapse here.
Is it not possible to add upvotes history?
Yea I would always go check upvotes to find a post from recent, miss that feature
I am considering creating multiple accounts to upvote this even more. Ok just kidding, but seriously if this is at all technically feasible it is by far my most missed feature. I often used my upvote history as a sort of very loose bookmarking system. I realize I can save posts, but I usually reserved that for extra special posts that I really needed to save.
The way Lemmy is set up I’ve actually struggled to find a post I upvoted just a couple hours prior. It can be very frustrating.
Last time I tried using the spoiler tag, I got multiple people responding telling me sync used syntax different from what Lemmy standard is. Not sure if that’s been fixed yet, but sounds like an easy one.

To see a list of all communities on an instance. Unless I’m being dumb, I don’t see this feature yet. And a subscribe button next to each community in the list
you can, if you open an instance, there is a ‘communities’. from there you can open each community and subscribe.
this would be easier with some images… lemmy grab those
Oh nice, thanks! I don’t know how I missed that

This is what I see after the clicking view instance. No communities button :(
Edit: im dumb, it's in the floating button menu

Combining multiple posts on all / local feeds:
Came here to suggest this. As someone who browses the new feed a lot this would make it so much better.
This is the one thing that needs addressing. Seeing someone’s post 15x over two pages just makes me want to stop using Lemmy. Consolidation of crossposts would be huge please!
Something that only makes sense on lemmy and not Reddit, but I think it would be cool to explore a combined account view. With defederation I’ve now ended up with multiple accounts that can all see different things. Could be nice to combine my beehaw and lemmy.world subscriptions view together.

Have a global setting for not sharing the post title by default when I want to directly share an image from the app. It’s come unstuck and turned back on for me a couple times.
I also wanted to say the only reason I’m using lemmy at all is because of your app; I’m a big fan. As soon as your app turned off for Reddit, I quit using Reddit. I’m glad that you turned to this community, and I’ll support you here too :)
Side note: I’m a software developer, so if you ever want an enhancement in an open-source library, maybe reach out and I can take a crack at it. I’m mostly familiar with Python and C# but I’m always willing to learn new things!
A way to group subscribed communities into a single ‘subscription’. I can then associate all the tech related stuff into one clickable item, and all my sports related stuff etc.
Idea is to let me view subscriptions by ‘topic’
Rename other users or hide certain characters. Im sick of people using emojis in their names but I don’t necessarily want to block them.
