No thanks. Someone walking around with an assault rifle isn’t going to make me feel safe. Quite the opposite actually. It’s going to make me feel like I’m in a warzone, which aren’t generally regarded as safe places.

I always feel intimidated by cops in full combat gear and rifle at airports. I know I didn’t do anything wrong, but it’s like when a cop is following right behind you in traffic. Even though you aren’t doing anything, he might decide you are. He has all the power and you have none.

I’m not here to cause any trouble or be that guy with a rifle.

Then… why is he bringing the rifle?

He’s not! He’s got a machine gun, that’s completely different!

I think the real difference is that he is hired to do this versus some gun freak deciding to do it.

Seems pretty stupid. Keep them safe from what? This is Philadelphia, not Ukraine. Big obvious cameras work fine as deterrents.

        From another article.

In 2015, the West Philly Jim’s location was targeted by armed robbers, who reportedly made off with $215 in cash stolen from the register and customers who were in the store at the time. No injuries were reported in that robbery.

        So I guess that’s it.

A guy with a rifle is not going to fix that. If anything, he’s going to get jumped and his rifle stolen.

          They’re trained law officers.

Perhaps we should decommission police forces everywhere because they only get jumped and have their guns stolen?

It’s all a waste of resources, and we should let everyone defend themselves like a good anarchy?

Your argument does not make sense.

I live in a dense city, it’s pretty safe. Maybe philly is worse but come on, we don’t live in the wild west or the 80s there aren’t just criminals crawling the streets robbing and killing people

          Think logically.

If the shop is hiring armed guards then the problem is obviously but enough to warrant that kind of expense. Why would a sandwich shop pay that kind of money if it wasn’t needed.

Whoever posted this, should post in 2 weeks if the fake cop is still posted there. If not, we can know this was PR stunt and well got take for a ride to provide “organic” engagement.

Exactly… us cities have higher violet crime rates than any place in Ukraine besides front lines…

yeah i was talking about the front lines. US cities aren’t at war and violent crime is largely between people who know eachother or have gang relations

And worst of all? It’s for a Philly cheesesteak place. I’m from Chicago, and compared to an Italian beef, Philly cheese steaks suck.

Why do people from Chicago think their version of everything is the best? No one likes Chicago versions of anything outside of Chicago.

Imagine going for a sandwich and a guard who wants to shoot a guy but has bad aim instead gets you. But it’s okay! He’s a cop/veteran who knows folks and will be let off with a warning. Because cops never get held accountable if they are shooting bad people.
