Hello Earth Shepard’s! Waiting patiently for some harvests to come in. So far I’ve been plucking away at my lemon trees to make lemonade (tried wine, but for health sake I’m sticking to lemonade) until everyone else catch up.
Invitees are: Blackberry (x2), Peach (x2), Raspberry(x2), Boysenberry(x3), Blueberry(x1), Strawberry (pulled a few and they’re good, x8), Summer Crisp lettuce (still producing and tasty,x6), Tomatoes (Roma and Black Krim,x10), Apple (x1) Bell Peppers(x12) and Zucchini(x2).
As you can see, bell peppers and tomatoes make up a large part of my garden. I’m shifting more to a perrenial grow instead of annuals (peppers here are perrenials) hence the large amount of peppers. In hindsight, I should had bought more Blueberry bushes and at least another tray of strawberry starters.
Besides the strawberries and the trees, everything else has been grown from seed. Pictures are just a minor snippet of what’s growing in my backyard.

You’re waiting for harvests to come in, I’m still waiting to be able to put my sprouts outside.
I literally just put some starts in the ground today. Rolling the dice that we won’t get a late frost since we’re not out of our window yet.
Oh cheese, I feel ya. I was like that late fall and throughout winter due to my grow tent not just getting how enough to transplant/Jumpstart a few varieties.
By the time I bought a small grow tent heater, the weather began to get warmer. What do you plan on sprouting?
What’s your setup? Usually you don’t need a heater with a grow tent.
You can turn down the light intensity to lower the DLI, which should let the tent remain warmer overnight as it would 24/7 lighting or even 18 or whatever you calculate instead.
With my lights on, my fans are almost constantly running or it’s above 26-30c. And that’s not even at full intensity. When they turn off they go down to 16c at night as that’s the house temp. So if you can avoid a dark time, you could solve that issue?
Not all plants can get away without a nightly respiration period though iirc. Not a basic technique by any means.
Hmm I have a small 3x3 or 4x4 grow tent; heat mat, lights, in/outflow, and 2 fans circulating the air. During the winter it would be too cold to get any of my peppers to germ as the weather continously dipped below 50 at night. My grow routine would be day time during night so the peppers ‘high’ would be a smidgen below 60 degrees by the time I woke up.
It’s the second time I seen DLI so I’ll look into it for peppers
Is your in and out running constantly? You should only be exhausting air when it gets too hot or humid, and forcing air inside isn’t usually recommended except for in pretty advanced systems.
If your light isn’t putting out enough heat, anything I’ve said is pretty pointless. Even a pepper starter light should warm a 3x3 up.
Oh shit, yes my out/in flow is running constantly. Could that be the cause?
Exchanging the air constantly will make the tent the same conditions as outside. If you want to increase the temp and RH you need to “seal” it up. So only run the fans when it’s not at ideal conditions to get to ideal conditions.
You CAN run the fan constantly, but there is downsides, like needing supplemental heat, using more water for the humidifier. The idea of the tent is to make small area the ideal conditions, making your “lung room” the area with constant air exchanging is more difficult to manage. Especially if your tent isn’t actually in a semi sealed room.
I grow cannabis, so I’ve got a pretty automated system. If my rh or temp gets too high it fires on the exhaust and it naturally draws air in. I have my settings at 27c or 60rh to turn on.
Tomatoes! I hardly use them quick enough when I buy them, so when they’re still on the vine I can leave them a little longer before picking. It also pushes me to use them more. I’d grow more but I’m in an apartment in the city, so everything is in pots.
Ah, try canning your excess? I plan on making some pasta sauce for any extra left over. Have you looked into growing vertically?
21c and sunny yesterday, 3c overcast with mixed rain/flurries today.
I’m sure my non hardened starts I transplanted yesterday will take!!!
