It’s true. They changed the platform and improved my overall experience by making me not want to use it.
Logo looks like 🤡
My last post on Reddit got removed.
It was “🖕🤡🖕u/spez”
But apparently that’s considered a personal attack.
I think it was the emoji though, because I was once banned for posting “🖕” too, which was nothing personal. I guess they just don’t like emojis.
Well to be fair, if you post “Fuck [Insert Admin Name]” to an instance that the admin controls, you’d likely get that post removed and possibly banned from the instance, especially if that Admin is also the owner of the instance.
I’ve yet to see an instance owner/admin behave in such a way to deserve such a gesture. It’s nice.
I love pixel art and am a retro nerd, and I still don’t like that change.

It’s because it’s really ugly pixel art
Guys can we forget for good about the old country?
You’re commenting in a community called “Reddit”…
Fair enough mate 😅
Let the past die. Kill it, if you have to.
ETA: This pushed me to finally uninstall it
Something Something learn from the past Something Something repeat it.
- somebody who didn’t learn
You reminded me the sequel trilogy exists….
I guess they try to cling onto their most successful community event with the pixel-canvas, as there is not a lot they can still be proud of?
I guess they will have to moderate / censor it this year because I have a feeling huge portions of the canvas will be about /u/Spez
Oh man, imagine a huge part of the canvas being ‘FEDIVERSE’ or ‘LEMMY.’
I think that’s inevitable this time. I could imagine they consider a whole new community event this year because of potential protests.
Spez might just axe /r/place altogether, knowing the potential for protest
It would be great if the next iteration of /r/place was just absolutely spammed with lemmy/kbin/mastodon/fediverse/etc logos lol
even this community’s icon looks better now
Why did they scale down their logo
Because the original logo is behind a paywall. I’m not joking.
Sorry what? A paywall for logos?
Holy shit you weren’t joking
It’s kind of funny at this point
The only free alternatives are dogecoin or WSB? Wtf? Who the hell decided this… oh yeah. We all know who.
I did not believe you, but you were not wrong…
The free ones are “OrangeRed” (the pixelated one), “Doge,” and “Wall Street,
Thanks for the link!
I didn’t believe it either to be honest. It’s so damn petty.
It’s a change to improve your overall experience
Pixels are ‘fun’ 🙄
Yeah, but only if they are pixel pals
So long Reddit… It’s been emotional
….damage
It was quite emotional for me a month ago tbh. But Lemmy has been fantastic and I’ve moved on.
not really though
This whole fiasco has demonstrated to me that way too many users had a bizarre and unhealthy attachment to a friggin link aggregator…
It’s a discussion forum. Calling it just a link aggregator is aggressively dishonest.
It is a similar atrachment to the one you’d get to an old message forum. For me, it is more about the people and the super niche communities than about reddit itself. It is going to take a while to rebuild on Lemmy what was already on Reddit. In that regard, I am a little sad to have let it go, but oh well.
You can make anything sound ridiculous if you ignore the primary thing people use it for.
Like, I don’t get why people pay hundreds of dollars for airline tickets. What’s the appeal of sitting in a crowded metal tube for a few hours?
I’m surprised Apple approved this for the App Store. Extorting money for an icon, and posting something that looks low quality or like a bug.
That rating is awfully high. Would be a shame if something happened to it …

Definitely paid. It’s almost 5/5 which is absolute bonkers for that shit show
They have been buying reviews.
Some of them hadn’t even changed the platform name to Reddit in their oh-so-general reviews.
2.7 on play store lol
No shot it isn’t bots
“Look ma, I’m adding user value!”
How does reddit app have rating of 4.8 on appstore while play store rating is 2.7?
I’d love to hop on the hate bandwagon. But I’ve got enough reasons to hate reddit. Given r/place opens up very shortly I would wager it’s a temporary icon in pixel art for the pixel art event… just a guess.
If I’m wrong that should absolutely violate AppStore guidelines though.
Given that they give you the option to pay to get the old reddit icon back… It might be temporary but the old icon is not coming back.
Yes but do they have Lunar real estate to sell me?
