Hey, now I have two Star Trek tattoos!
Special Guest Star: the Federation HQ set from “Star Trek: Discovery”
Formerly the S31 ship in season two and the Sheng’Zhou in season one, I believe.
We’ll see it again in Discovery season five, but it may be its last outing in terms of production date.
CBS seems to be getting every last bit of staging they can out of that enormous Pinewood Toronto soundstage they had under longterm lease. (Pinewood Toronto is on city land and partially owned and managed by Bell Media.)
It sounds as though they’ll be letting the Pinewood spaces go now that Discovery has wrapped. The Toronto EPs Frank Siracusa and John Weber convinced CBS Studios lease space and establish their own soundstages in the region. CBS Stages in Mississauga opened the fall before the COVID pandemic. It’s where the main sets for SNW are located, and Starfleet Academy is expected to be produced.
When you have a kickass two-level set, it’d be a shame to waste it.
I’m really glad my mind doesn’t make these connections while I’m watching the show. Now that you mention it, I can see the similarities in between the Section 31 ship and Federation HQ.
Just shows how good the redress was.
The Menagerie also worked out well, didn’t it? Granted it only started as a courtroom drama. And then there’s Court Martial. TLDR: Trek could pull this in the past.
Has there been a courtroom episode in the series that’s been a dud?
Not that I recall.
But they’ve been used sparingly, which increases the dramatic tension.
Ira Behr considered “Rules of Engagement” to be a bit of a dud.
This is the nittiest of picks, but I kinda wish the oxygen mask that Pike was wearing had the weird over the top of the head strap, like the filter masks Bones devised in “The Cloud Minders”.
I’m not sure I’m up for a courtroom drama episode, but so far SNW hasn’t lead us wrong yet, so… we shall see!
