OLED and MicroLED are the future
I hope they can make oleds and uleds as amazingly reliable as lcd screens. A lot of led-lcd screens have been running 24/7/365 for a decade.
I misread the word development in the title to mean no longer manufactured instead of no longer improved upon.
Does that mean LED-LCD TVs dead in the water? Not necessarily. As we’ve seen from Vizio, TCL, Samsung, LG and Sony, there’s still a huge demand for lower-cost LED-LCD TVs as well as LED-LCD monitors. Those will continue to be produced for years to come — and will likely continue to drop in price — just don’t expect to see many improvements on them compared to their more expensive counterparts.
Sounds like they’ll be around for a while yet
What a clickbait headline. Of course there will be advances in tv tech.
Did you read a different headline? What you said doesn’t contradict the headline that I read, which is: “It’s official — LCD TVs won’t see any further development.”
Obviously there are other TV technologies that will continue to be developed, as the subtitle points out: “OLED and MicroLED are the future.”
Yep, I misread. Thanks for the correction.
That’s not at all what the headline says.
It’s about time!
