SOTA was the biggest reason I got into amateur radio. Love mixing radio/tech with getting out in the fresh air.
I moved near the Rocky Mountains two years ago and still haven’t done a SOTA activation for some reason.
That’s where that pic was taken, it’s W0C/FR-174. Activating in the rockies definitely makes you work for it.
What a nice view. As a flat lander I am more of a POTA enjoyer but they’re both great
How do you secure the end fed to the pole? I have a SOTA beam collapsible pole but I’m not sure how I would attach one of my wire antennas.
One of my favorite hacks! I have a 30’ collapsible and I put a fishing rod end eyelet on the end of the pole. I then attach a double sided carabiner to it and feed the end fed through it.
Thanks for the idea.
