I know fans hate this song but I love it. In a period of a lot of terrible songs on the radio, this was a beacon.
Why do they hate it? It’s an awesome song. It’s also the only butthole surfers song I know. Kind of like how creep is an awesome song and it’s the only Radiohead song I know.
Probably resent the fact it got massive radio play after it was released and none of their earlier stuff was ever treated as radio friendly by the big stations. The same reason Kurt Cobain hated Smells Like Teen Spirit and mocked fans that only knew that song.
I think it’s because this song (and album) was such a departure from the earlier chaos that they had stood for. Everything became way too polished and didn’t have the edge anymore. That said, I still love Electriclarryland and Weird Revolution…some real bangers on them
My only previous experience with BS was a crazy weird video from early 90s late night MTV and I’ve never been able to figure out what it was. It was a few years before Electriclarryland and all I remember is some weird clown makeup guy on a surfboard.
Could be, I just looked up the video and that seems familiar, but it’s been 30 years so my memory is probably faulty. The hairdo is definitely something that strikes a chord with me, and it would have been around 93. Thanks!
