Maybe I’ve just been watching too many vfx breakdowns on YouTube, but I found them disappointing in this. The animals and the car / train scene in particular.
I read on IMDb that they used a real car and a real train wagon, allegedly spent a lot of time designing all that. And yet it looked so bad in the movie. CGI is rather weak, we had this level of quality 10 years ago.

This movie has a lot of features of a typical shitty Hollywood film: cliches, glaring plot holes, weak cinematography with blurred backgrounds and screen edges, monotone color grading in many scenes, etc. But the story was interesting, and I enjoyed it.
I read that Emily Blunt spent months practicing Russian and Korean. I don’t know about Korean, but I was pretty impressed with her Russian. Not only could I understand what she was saying (as a native speaker, I usually need subtitles when Hollywood speaks “Russian”), but her delivery felt so natural in that scene. She’s good.
