Annoying. It came with the last update.
Not sure about Samsung OneUI (or whatever it’s called at the moment), but similar thing happens when you enable predictive back gesture under Developer options on stock Android.

I just updated to OneUI 6.1 and the background preview is working properly again
Also happens to me on Pixel 6, latest QPR (build AP21.240119.009).
