If it’s good, Netflix will cancel it halfway through season 2 with no conclusion. I wish this post was sarcasm.

I love this show, but I do believe the story is a bit weaker toward the end of the season. I don’t want to post spoilers, but some injuries should not be so easily shrugged off lol.

This is what I’ve been saying and all my friends think I’m crazy for not worshipping the show 100%! Don’t get me wrong, loved every bit of the show up until the 2nd half of the last episode, with many plot holes and unreasonable scenes…

Yeah, I agree. There was a lot about the animation and story that really drew me in, but there are a couple episodes (one in particular) that the ‘endurance’ of the main character breaks the immersion. It feels a bit like shifting mid show from a grim anime to a superhero cartoon.

I highly recommend the series though.

Sadly you’re probably right but it’s still very much worth the watch as the season is pretty self-contained.

Does it have a conclusion of sorts for season 1? I’m not interested in getting involved with an ever cliffhanging show that Netflix will cancel before conclusion.

Season one is enjoyable as a package of just itself. There are some ways in which the ending could be seen as cliffhangery, in that season 2 won’t be starting from scratch and some of the characters’ arcs will be continued from what we’ve seen so far in season 1, but that doesn’t feel like a cliffhanger to me, more like natural continuation and new beginnings of sorts. That is to say that I think it’s a narratively satisfying ending that doesn’t require future seasons to be good.

I sympathise with your jadedness. I feel like a lot of Netflix shows end their seasons especially unsatisfyingly, almost as if they’re reasoning “if we wrap things up too nicely, we won’t get another season”, but then they get cancelled anyway. Regardless of season 2, I definitely think Blue Eyed Samurai is worth watching.

Contrary to the other poster, I think season 1 is full cliffhanger and I was disappointed that the season didn’t feel completed. Maybe I’m just being hypercritical, though. Or I just want the characters to have a chance to rest, lol

Im pretty sure it has been renewed for Season 2. Mind you I do think Season 1 does work pretty well as a self contained arc so to speak. It does end in a way that begs for a second season though. So its good we are gonna get one.

The shows fine, but I don’t even know if I’d put it in the top 5 best things Netflix put out in 2023. Maybe best original work (assuming it is?)

I watched it because I saw it was getting crazy good ratings.

It was alright. Decent show, but not the 9.3/10 groundbreaking masterpiece people were claiming it was. I’d watch a second season, but I’m right there with you. It’s far from the best thing I saw last year.

Animated? Scavenger’s Reign. (I know, you didn’t ask me) I really liked Blue Eyed Samurai until about half way through and then the ending of the season had me wondering what the writers were thinking. Characters motivations stopped making sense.

Scavengers Reign for best animated. Best anything? Honestly, I really liked Twisted Metal. I know that’s probably not going to be everyone’s top pick, but I had a ton of fun watching it. The Last of Us was also really good.

I thought it was very good. But cyberpunk from last year was better.

ugh ugh this edgerunner series? that was pure cringe.

based on my opinion about our opinion this new Netflix series might actually be worth the while. /s

If you like a good cyber punk series check out the old series from ~2002ish Ghost in the shell Stand a lone complex. It’s really remarkable.
