COSMIC Store is coming along quickly, though there is still a lot left to do. It loads nearly instantly, because it uses bitcode to cache appstream data in an optimized format. It uses very little memory compared to the Pop Shop. Searches can be performed live as they are done in parallel. Searching for “e” takes 5.5 ms on my desktop and returns 4601 results.

Hopefully it tells you if you are installing a deb or a flatpak app more clearly. I can only tell by the size in the current pop shop.

Can’t say much about stability as I have only used it for a short amount of time but it is the fastest shop gui I have ever used and I don’t even think it can get noticeably faster. Everything feels instant

Only if there are multiple options. If there is 1 option, it does not. At least on my store. You can only really tell if it says

“Up to # MB” - flatpak

        Or just " # MB" - deb

I can’t be the only one that gets giddy when I see Jeremy Soller or Michael Murphy post… My LemurPro is eagerly anticipating the upgrade to COSMIC.

One question, Gnome has an extension that makes turning on my selfhosted wireguard VPN a simple toggle. Is there a plan to integrate something similar?

Woohoo! Pop Shop is one of the most irritating apps to deal with because of sluggish performance. Glad to see a lot of work is going into its replacement.

Wow, that’s really fast for an application store! On a completely unrelated note, will it be possible, or rather could it be considered to add the ability to change the emoji font in the settings as currently there really is no quick and easy way to do that on linux.
