  • Remember that James Gunn is on the record as saying that they want the DCU to follow the "graphic novel format rather than the MCU’s comicbook format. Things will be more themed and relatively self contained. See Lanterns as a True Detective story and Clayface as a straight A24 or Neon style body horror film.

Probably why John Stewart’s patrol beat at the end of Lanterns is more focused. More investigation, less super powers.

You don’t have to “be a fan” in order to support someone’s right to exist.

I have a cousin who is transphobic in the sense that he is very uncomfortable around trans people. He cannot get past it and avoids interactions because he’s so uncomfortable. He also defends trans rights at every turn, publicly and without hesitation. Trans rights are human rights. Full stop.

  • I want to take a moment to praise Brent Hecht. I have zero doubt, especially given the chosen language, that he fully expected his “memo” to end up as evidence.

If you work at a company, and see a wrong that needs to be righted, do not underestimate the impact of your strongly worded e-mail.

Many moons ago, I worked for a Fortune 100 company that was doing some shady shit with their employees’ retirement accounts. I had a habit of backing up my Lotus Notes to CD regularly and never deleting emails (yes, that old). I also complained to my manager about what eventually led to the lawsuit. My emails (amongst many others, but still) was included as evidence. The aftermath led to a change in the law regarding retirement accounts and it also led to corporate policy regarding e-mail retention. Wouldn’t help against people who offline backup though. It is very damaging when prosecutors can show hundreds or thousands of emails complaining about the same thing.

    Send that email.

  • I’m not defending the vibe coding but the article’s argument here is pretty bad. I am at the top of my field, I have been coding since the mid nineties, bla, blah, blah, and I cannot stand Python. I don’t like it. I don’t want to learn it. That’s not a fault or a deficiency, it’s a choice.

What is a problem is Linus’ decision to go ahead and “code” something on Python even though he had no intention on learning it, then using AI to code something for him that he could not troubleshoot because he doesn’t have the knowledge. That’s reckless.
