Like the other commenter said, try pressing F5, or right-click the empty space in a folder and click “refresh”. The file is likely there, but sometimes Explorer just doesn’t update immediately for whatever reason.

Is there an open-source file format for print? PDFs are still so widely used because they’re the only format (that I’m aware of) where you can take what you see on your screen, send it to someone else, and it will look/print exactly the same way. I’d love it if there was an equivalent FOSS option that I didn’t need a pirated Adobe Acrobat to edit effectively.

Here’s the thing. We actually have NO idea what to look for. Our sample size of “planets that have life” is exactly one, which doesn’t really tell us much. Since we know that an Earth-like planet can support life, it makes sense to start our search there, but there’s no reason to believe that extraterrestrial life might not be completely and utterly different from anything on our little rock.
That being said, liquid water is extremely conducive to complex chemical reactions, which are probably required for complex life. But you also need chemicals that are both reactive enough to do things, but can be stable enough to not randomly break apart. This is one of the reasons carbon is so good at being alive, it’s reactive enough to bond with a lot of other elements (including itself), but not too reactive to be useful.
So basically, this isn’t new. It’s just pointing out that a pure “water world” might not be very useful without a bunch of lively chemicals to boot.

If anyone’s curious:

Data lines are nice and parallel, and are only a few cm long, so definitely shouldn’t be a problem.
My main feedback is that some of those capacitors (such as C36 and C37) are physically very tiny, you have plenty of space to spare so I don’t see a reason to not use larger parts like 0804 or even 1206 (using the imperial measurements).
Why do you have the spiral trace going to the power switch? Just for aesthetics, or something else? There are a few other places with traces making spirally twists too.
I’m quite a fan of “old office PC from eBay with Debian LTS” myself. You can often get them with decent specs for $30-$40 (less than a Pi) since companies will deprecate them en-mass when their support contract ends.

The energy provided by a car-roof-sized solar panel would be completely, totally negligible compared to how much is used by a typical electric car. The only reason it works here is because these cars are so tiny. For a standard 4-door model? It would be a waste of time, and better to just put that panel on a roof somewhere instead.

ConcernedApe has been very supportive of modding Stardew Valley, so I don’t see why this game would be different

I mean, what are they gonna do? Mess with the atomic clocks and throw off everyone’s ability to geolocate? Probably not, since then everyone would just move to the still-accurate signals from the European and Chinese equivalents.
…or do you just not understand how GPS works?

The title isn’t saying that he identifies as a man, it’s saying that the identity of the person in the video was found, as he was unidentified before now.

Did you just call Ars Technica an “internet rot site”?
Good way to make it obvious you don’t know what you’re talking about without saying you don’t know what you’re talking about.

They don’t have a monopoly. Full stop. Just off the top of my head, we have Epic Games Store, GOG, and Itch.io, which may not be as popular as Steam, but are absolutely viable alternatives if Steam ever goes completely to shit.
A real monopoly is like how, in my city in the US, there is exactly ONE company you can buy electricity and gas from. It’s a subsidiary of Avangrid, which is a Swedish corporation, not even on the same continent. They’ve been doing incredibly fucky shit with billing customers for years now and they have the mayor in their pocket, so if you want electricity, you have no choice other than to pay up. There are no alternatives unless you have the money to pay up front for a full off-grid solar install.

Also, TrueNAS loads entirely into RAM upon boot, meaning the SSD will only be used once when the computer is powered on. So apart from that few seconds, there won’t be any additional power draw from the SSD.
It could just be your DNS, I’ve had problems with Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 and Catbox but I think they actually have a list of ISPs and DNS providers that give them issues. I don’t think you can manually specify a DNS server on cellular (without some weird workaround), but if you have issues on other networks you can try changing your DNS and see what happens.
I believe both Firefox and Chromium support JXL now, although they probably need to be enabled as an experimental setting.

Genuine question, how would someone finding out about it affect your employability? Unless the person who finds out is your boss and he has a grudge against sex workers, it’s not your employer’s job to be policing your past actions if they have no bearing on your current employment.

Because the door handles are not always disabled in a crash. There’s technically a system in place to extend the handles if a crash is detected, which works the majority of the time. The issue is that, clearly, this system is not reliable enough (because, ya know, if the control system gets wrecked in a crash, it cant extend the handles). But my guess is that it still works enough in crash tests to not automatically disqualify it from 5-stars.

I mean, this sounds like exactly the correct way to go about this. Make it opt-in, and data is only used to find/address problems with the system and not to track your usage habits to sell you ads. I don’t have a problem with this.

Can you name and shame whatever brand made that washer?
You should really try a medication again. There are ones that don’t affect your appetite as bad, and if you literally cannot hold down a job without some sort of external help, your childhood doctor’s “medz bad” opinion is no longer valid. See someone who specializes in treating ADHD/autism and get their opinion. Finding the right meds can really be a life changer, it will probably take trying a few different ones, but it’s worth it. I would not be able to handle adult life without mine.
In the meantime, it seems like all the jobs (apart from food) that you’ve struggled with have been customer-facing jobs. My first job was also customer-facing and I hated it. I’m lucky enough to have a college education in a field that lets me work from home, but that isn’t an option for everyone. Have you thought about maybe going into a trade? Construction? Electrician? Carpentry? I’m assuming you don’t have a degree in a specific field since you didn’t mention it, but those jobs tend to have less social interaction (and what social interaction there is is much less consequential if you mess something up)
Finally, I just want to say, you’re not lazy. You’re obviously trying incredibly hard, because if you were just lazy, you would have given up by now. Having a kid to care for at 24 while also struggling with, frankly, a crippling disability sounds so fucking difficult. Hang in there, man. You’ll figure it out, one way or another, I’m sure of it.
