  • If the correlation is causal, it goes the other direction (i.e., it’s hard to get through the developmental period as a neurodiverse person without trauma).

And [my theory is] some neurodiverse people develop adhd in response to this trauma. (Is that not what I wrote? Apologies if not, it was my intention but communication isn’t my strong suit.)

I’m not in the US or in the medical field, so my experience with clinicians, diagnosis and the audhd and mental health system and community is likely quite different to yours, but I agree that diagnosis should be avoided by imcompetant doctors.

Sadly it’s basically impossible to call out incompetence as a patient, especially if you’re dealing with the NHS psychiatric services.

  • I like this theory but considering the very high correlation with adhd and Adverse Childhood Experiences, the huge overlap between adhd and autism, and also between adhd and ptsd, and how much difficulty clinicians have telling all these conditions apart, I think adhd is far more likely to be a ‘default’ trauma response prevelant in folks genetically predisposed to autism.

And the fatigue and other autoimmune issues which we [adhd/asd/ptsd] also seem to commonly deal with is likely just the toll all this stress has on our bodies.

(I’d link more stuff but I’m getting tired again, papers on all the interesting bits are easily searchable though)

  • Regularly vacuum. Idk what it is that’s so difficult about it, I can force myself to deal with the awful sensory experiences of other chores on a fairly regular basis, but vacuuming is one I put off till the floor gives me anxiety.

Also I need to linux my laptops and bypass a forgotten password on the old one with the disk drive so I can watch stuff again on the good screen. I’ve been meaning to do this for zonks now, ffs.

Socials wise, just do it, think of it like ripping off a bandaid. Add those you want to keep to a group chat or something and hopefully they’ll talk there. Ngl tho, I do still miss reddit, being an anonymous voice amongst millions was nice. I hate that feeling of being recognised.

  • The only colour combinations I find ugly on most people, are when muted/dusty shades are paired with vibrant ones.

Light blue jeans with dark (un-scuffed) black footwear is a good example of this, and the only people who can make this combination look flattering have very cool and very bright complexions.

Speaking of this, get someone you trust and who can see colour well, to tell you whether you have a warm, neutral, or cool undertone to your complexion because wearing the wrong colours will clash with your undertone and this will make you look disheveled or unwell, depending on how badly you’re clashing.

So for white guys (which I’m assuming most of you are) your undertome is whether your skin looks more pink, more yellow, or if it’s neutral/neither.

If you’re more pink you’re cool toned, so stay away from warm colours.

More yellow and you should stay away from cool colours.

Neutral/neither most often comes with a more muted complexion but you will probably lean slightly warm or cool too, so mostly bright/vivid colours should be avoided and then which ever way you lean, avoid it’s opposite.

For other ethnicities, deeper complexions are not automatically ‘warm’ and your respective undertones will usually be different from pink/yellow, but the warm/cool/neutral is still how it works.

    …

If anybody is does not have someone to ask about their undertone, if you share a picture (taken in natural lighting!) of your lower face and neck down to the collarbone, one side is fine, I should be able to tell you.

Obviously though if you have a beard or skin condition like intense rosacia or heavy port wine markings, I won’t be able to see through that.
