I suspect the confusion might be do to regional language differences? Where I’m from, a “bench” is something usually used for sitting.

Yeah, that one really confused me because I’m almost certain that I’ve previously mixed some conditioner directly in my hair bleach mixture, and still have no clue what the potential problem is.
QualifiedKittento Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•You're going on a road trip! What's the first place you wanna hit up and why? English1·8 days agoHawaii!
It sounds to me that Bubi’s previous experiences with travel/moving and other cats happened before she lost an eye? How long ago was that? That has the potential to make all these upcoming changes even more stressful for her than they were when she was younger (more adaptable) and had both eyes.
I understand the temptation to add a new cat when the territory is new for both, but I think it would be much kinder to Bubi to try and minimize the number of new things she has to adjust to at once. You could designate a room in the new place that Bubi won’t have access to as the room where a new cat would eventually start out. That would allow Bubi to acclimate to her new home, and then when she’s ready, you still have a space for the new cat to start out in that isn’t actually taking any territory away from Bubi.
If you want to adopt a kitten, I strongly recommend adopting 2 kittens. Kittens have waaaay more energy than most 4 year old cats, so a single kitten is likely to annoy Bubi. With 2 (or more!) kittens, they’ll have an appropriate playmate around with a similar energy level, and Bubi will be free to engage only as much as she wishes to. If you’re set on only one more cat, an older kitten (6+ months) or adult cat might be a better choice. You could also look into fostering as a way to test the waters without a full lifetime commitment.
Also, I highly recommend Jackson Galaxy’s guide to cat introductions. There’s 5 parts:

At least I get to foster lots of adorable, sweet kittens as a distraction, and live in a pretty great part of a shitty country.
I’m sooo torn on whether to say “good kitty!” or “bad kitty!”, because those look an awful lot like lillies, which are extremely toxic to cats!
What if I don’t have an air fryer, nor the counter space to get an air fryer?
I mostly hung out with some of the “weird” kids. I think it was 5th or 6th grade when I decided that I wanted to hang out with the popular kids, and I guess I managed to succeed, because a year or two later, one of my classmates told me how popular I had been. I never felt popular though, and the time I spent trying to be popular was just constant stress because almost everyone else in that group is also worried about being accepted.
I consider high heels, fishnet stockings, and/or exposed bra straps to be a sexual things. Does that mean no one else is allowed to wear any of those in public now?
Joke’s on them! They’re annoying me into saving my money!
QualifiedKittento Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone actually take into account "IP Rating"/"Water Resistance" when they buy phones?English1·1 month agoNope. I haven’t bought anything other than a Pixel since they were known as Nexus. Originally because they were cheap, but decent, then because they were easy to tinker with, and now because it’s the only phone that runs Graphene OS. If I need to buy a new phone, I just look for whichever Pixel is cheapest, and that’s my new phone.

Then realize, apparently it’s just me. I’m the problem.
Looks like a Maine Coon, so probably came from a breeder, and while it’s not an area I’ve really dug into, it looks like there are some Maine Coon breeders producing cats with blue eyes. Could naturally be blue, but the brightness definitely seems artificial.
Yeah, as far as I’m aware (and I spend way too much time reading about cat coat genetics), that combination of colors could only happen in a cat with 2 unique sets of DNA. I would still call that a tortie, though.
That blue eye though, I don’t know enough about eye color genetics to confidently say, but the other features of the cat look like a Maine Coon, so it is possible that this cat came from a breder and there was intentional selection for eye color.
That, or a photoshop. Since the dilution gene hits both colors, a tortie/calico can either be grey and cream or black(brown) and orange.
Wait, for real? Is that an actual thing? I zoomed in trying to figure out what that is, and that was my conclusion, but I also concluded that I couldn’t possibly be right…
Cats. I probably argue too much with people about the “correct” descriptions of coat colors/patterns, as I really like learning about the genetics behind them. Lots of other cat related stuff too, such as diet & training/behavior.
Whenever I’ve purchased a phone from Swappa, I’ve used the message/questions feature to ask the seller to confirm the bootloader is unlockable. You might have to explain how to check, but they’ve always checked and added a photo confirming before I bought.
Cats, particularly kittens. I do a whole lot of fostering, particularly with very young and/or sick kittens. At this very moment, I have 16 fosters from 4 different litters.
