The site itself seems to be sensationalizing mundane technology developments, probably using AI written slop.
The space carrier concept isn’t too difficult and it’s been discussed before. It would be a crewless, unpressurized vehicle that could deploy satellites on command. $60 million is probably too optimistic but maybe in the ballpark at least.
The need for it is completely questionable and the militarization of space pisses me off though

robolemmy@lemmy.worldto memes@lemmy.world•Only one generation knows how to fix tech...English351·1 month agoUtter BS. I’m on the old end of Gen X and I’m still building PCs for people and troubleshooting their shit when it breaks. I have yet to meet a much younger person who can do it as well.

Just drop into the discord server and we’ll figure it out. Need to find a couple more people of course.
I’m in the USA but I’m old and retired so my schedule is flexible enough to work with euro time zones
I made a quick discord server.
My first experience was with the original little books, in ‘77 or ‘78. I had no idea what it was when I bought the original box set but the blurb on the box about free trader Beowulf really grabbed me.
I’ve at least dabbled in every version since.
I can run a session if you want to give it a try. It’ll be mongoose traveller, rather than the original.
I didn’t know New Zealanders had tough, hairy skin. Thanks for the education!
Gosh, how convenient for them that it “crashed.” It would be a shame if they totally can’t figure out how to fix it until the hoi polloi get distracted by the next news cycle
