and all of that is highly subjective and often argued from a complete ignorance of context and knowledge of the subject matter.

You know who tells me my hobbies and horrible and awful and evil and stupid? People who don’t do them and who feel threatened by them, and think therefore they should not exist. And sometimes they go so far as to set traps with the intent to maim and harm others, because they think it’s justified because their feelings and views that nobody should ever do this thing they don’t like that is so disruptive and uncivilized.

It’s super fun being lectured by some angry ignorant nitwit how awful and bad and harmful you are, when what you are doing is objectively good for you, your community, and the people around you. Even better when the write a editorial in the news paper how you are DESTROYING SOCIETY by riding your bicycle. And if you were DECENT HUMAN BEING you’d just get in a car and drive like EVERYONE ELSE.

People like being offended and feeling victimized.

It’s a rush and they get addicted to it.

I have a cat and a dog… and a lot of folks will just argue with me on principle or try to make me pick a side. even in real life. or like get in a big stink about if they are purebred or rescue. i have no clue why any of it matters, i guess other than their insecure need to feel validated by getting you to agree with them.

I hate it. It’s so stupid and annoying. You can’t just like things anymore… anything you enjoy has to ‘hurt’ someone else and they have to let you know how wrong and bad you are for enjoying it.

I like Cilantro, and I’ve had internet weirdos tell me that it’s able-ist to enjoy it, because my enjoyment of it is some sort of racism against the people for whom it tastes like soap. Or like commentary made at me in the taco line when I order it how it’s so gross. It’s so ridiculous. I think Pinto beans are disgusting, but I don’t feel offended and hurt that other people enjoy them.

a single drink isn’t enough to go over the BAC limit. You typically need 2-3.

Alcohol rules are state by state and every state has different history. In my state happy hour is illegal due to MADD, and they have tried to repeal it several times and each time it gets shot down. A lot of it also has to do alcohol businesses wanting limited hours and less competition.

it’s how they cope with their miserable life.

a lot of people are not full blown alcoholics, but alcohol dependents, as if they don’t get shit faced, but they need a drink to function in ordinary situations.

I have known people like this. They can’t interact without people without alcohol. So at work, at a party, or just getting a coffee… they have to drink. And most stealth way to do this is a nip they can drop in their coffee or whatever. Typically they are not drunk or visible intoxicated, but without drinking they feel anxious and miserable.

it’s called Alcohol Use Disorder, or if you go by the alcoholic stages, it’s stage 1-2 on that scale.
