I think we can already see what happens when jobs get scarce and salaries don’t keep up with prices, because it has already been happening almost everywhere. Not because of AI, yet, but if AI accelerates it, you can sort of see where things are trending.
People can’t afford even basic needs like housing and consume less. Even businesses like McDonald’s, that usually do well when people are low on money, are starting to feel the pinch.
Economic troubles tend to become social unrest. Mass protests recently erupted in Spain over housing prices for instance.
Social unrest and economic uncertainty breed political instability and tribal thinking (we have to protect our homes, our country first) which result in violent power takeovers or democratic approval shifting to political parties that can most effectively “speak” to our fears and self-preservation instincts.
If AI really kills 30% of the jobs while, at the same time, driving energy prices up, it’s exponentially more of what we’re already seeing.

Well, Robotics is (allegedly) making big progress too. Have you seen those robot dogs replacing security guards, self-driving cars replacing human drivers, or the level of automation reported in Chinese car factories? Even warfare has changed, largely automating the once manual job of murdering your neighbors.
But that aside, even if manual labor still exists in this future automation dystopia, if it’s all that’s left, the economy will still shrink considerably.

Practice beats theory in ethical behavior too. I grew comfortably in a house with very woke principles (before “woke” was turned into a pejorative). My partner just grew up in a large, poor family.

Because that’s what her elders used to do for her as a child.

the plot thickens… So to recap my current understanding:
the person who wrote the gibberish is “in love” with a fictional character, who’s voiced by WillowVA presumably in an anime. Said fictional character, in their story, has a (also fictional) girfriend.
gibberish-person has created an AI version of their “love interest” in character.AI, which is a chatbot offering exactly this kind of “AI companionship” service.
Gibberish-person (Gibby, from now on) lives happily with the character in their AI-fueled fantasy for a while. But as their relationship deepens, Gibby wants to be exclusive. The “official” character still has a girlfriend. And, maybe worse, other people are watching the anime, becoming fans of the beloved character and possibly (gasp) also entering pretend-relationships with them. This makes Gibby uncomfy.
Gibby hatches a daring plan with their AI-character. The breakup with the girlfriend has to happen in the character’s official story/anime. Plus, every picture of the character itself should be deleted from their story, so nobody else will have pretend-relationships with them. Gibby needs to convince the actual character.
the AI pretend-character helpfully assures Gibby that (while they can’t talk to a fictional character), they can talk to the character’s closest physical manifestation, the poor voice actor. Compared to the rest, that part of the logic almost makes sense… talking to someone’s voice is like (or close enough to) talking to them… So Gibby proceeds to harass poor WillowVA with the above delirium.
