  • I’ve occasionally used alcohol to wind down a couple times before, but I’d say drinking on all your off days is still something to avoid. Can’t risk getting addicted to it, even when [and especially when] alcohol makes you feel more sane.

The only reason I have it sometimes is for the nice flavour pairings when mixing with non alcoholic drinks, but it is best practice to know and care about how much you’re drinking.

  • Realistically I’ve thought about Australia since it has a nice climate, decent politics, and no language barrier.

I wouldn’t go to Melbourne if I were you, half of yesterday was hot and dry, then the latter half was raining, and now today has been a mix of hot dry wind and then became hotter and dryer but without wind. It has gotten worse over the years, but the “multiple seasons in a day” phenomenon has been here since forever.

Sydney has pretty stable weather though and is generally nicer than here, but idk about the other cities, since I don’t really travel much.

  • To be honest, I found the screenshot elsewhere and it didn’t even occur to me that it was an onion article because of how real it sounds, but I guess it adds to the comedic effect.

I’ll add an acknowledgement and it’s URL, since I can’t switch the image. But hey, at least I didn’t post it in c/nottheonion!

  • From my point of view as someone who is likely autistic (undiagnosed but do plan to get assessed eventually), I have more autism symptoms now than I used to, and I was malnourished at an early point in my life due to how my birth went.

I used to snack on Arnotts Shapes often when I was younger and beyond that only had small dinners and cereal for breakfast, and I didn’t even have a routine, nor was I socially incapable, but I did stim a ton, with me getting seen as fidgety.

Now, I have the same breakfast daily, an omelet consisting of multiple eggs, at least a handful of home grown veg such as silver beet, some garlic and other seasonings, and some wholegrain wraps on the side. I made sure drinking water was also part of the routine to the point I almost drink too much.

However, that doesn’t change the fact I stim the same amount, I speak my mind and am very direct, I think, draft and reason about my interests in computing architectures, structural engineering, electrification, and sustainability almost constantly that it stops me from being as social as I could, and I still can’t prevent myself from forgetting to go to the bathroom and have showers, especially since those two aren’t part of my scheduled routine I’ve built, they just happen when they need to.

There is some truth in lack of proper nutrition worsening mental and physical issues, but the simple fact is autism is predominantly a difference in how interconnected parts of the brain are and how different it is to a neurotypical. This is also the reason why the people wanting to create an autism vaccine continue to fail.

  • Interesting how a vast majority of the right wingers I know, including my dad, don’t research anything at all, and only rely on algorithms to give them right wing rage bait.

My dad for example said to me that “all these foreign exchange students are getting $50k grants for entering the country on MY taxes” after hearing it on TikTok, then I did the most minor research and found that it’s only for one of the states (I think either QLD or WA, can’t remember which though). I rebutted his claim by stating that it’s state legislation and has no basis in taking other state taxes nor much federal tax, and he gave me a long winded explanation basically just to say that I don’t know what I’m talking about.

Apparently getting force fed slop on TikTok and instagram reels makes you a prolific researcher, while actually researching makes you a bum or something.
