  • so we sleep in cycles, usually a one full sleep cycle is about 90min. it starts with light sleep, and goes into deep sleep, then back to light sleep, repeat. deeper sleep begins around ~30min in.

if you wake up from light sleep you’ll feel more refreshed

if you wake up in the middle of deep sleep, you’ll need to do all that body booting up when already awake, and it certainly doesn’t feel refreshing

(that’s why a 15min nap can breathe new life into you, but a 40min nap will leave you more tired)

it’s best to aim your sleeping schedule to include sleep in the increments of around 90min, proper night of sleep should have you go through 4-6 cycles (6h, 7,5h, or 9h).

the 90min is just an average though, listen to your body and see how things work for you. for me personally, around 7h or 7,5h works perfectly

  • it’s the hopelessness that gets to most of us, it certainly does to me. as you said not fast enough, all the good efforts exist sure but none of them seem to be able to outweigh the negative actions.

and even when good actions start happening i get the thought of “so we could’ve done that the entire time… but we just didn’t” (i hope the NYC Mayor somehow becomes the president of the world, please)

  • i mean… i hope good things will happen, but yeah i don’t expect them to. especially when we look at the climate crisis, we’re probably one of the last generations that’ll remember the world when it was relatively normal

i just hope i die before the whole planet is forced to ration drinking water

i literally replied to someone who presented their opinion of psychologists being useless and “just give me meds” with my opposing opinion of “actually a change in perspective worked for me”. why are you ignoring that guy’s “this worked for me, it must work for everybody else, and anybody who doesn’t try this is a full” huh?

pop science? my guy, why do you think psychologists exist? to be prescription dispensers? the most common way people get better is by first using meds to ease their chemical imbalance, and then also attending therapy or otherwise working on themselves so they don’t have to use meds

and you’re healing your bloody psyche. why do you want to be on meds for the rest of your life so much?

nah a shift in perspective is how you truly heal, chemical help makes you reliant. it’s important to start with it so you can rest from constant anxiety, but it’s not going to fix you, you fix you

and what that guy is saying is a valid method of dealing with anxiety that has allowed me to heal step by step
