Linux@lemmy.ml•Can I use a Linux laptop to connect a Mac to wifi through an Ethernet cable?English
9·10 days agoYup, company requirement. I’m hoping that this will make it seem like I have a wired connection when I actually don’t. Though it is a bit of an XY problem as there are other solutions like using a router in bridge mode as others have stated

37·13 days agoI use them to tag warnings and green flags for people. That way I know if someone isn’t the type for disagreements or if I should value their opinion more due to some fact. Maybe somebody is tagged as excellent coder due to some great code they shared. Maybe as asshat if they’re an asshat. Or, more commonly, tagged as AI Info so I know to take their words with a grain of salt.
Also so at a glance being able to recognize cool people from one community in another. Like seeing pmjv in the wild. Helpful without the profile pics
Here in canada it costs about $150 for an ambulance if you’re a resident. $800 if you have third party insurance, and a grand if you’re not a Canadian citizen or if you’re a new Canadian citizen
Edit: At least in Nova Scotia

Sorry that was half cocked

Given a drop of gods nector eddy now understands all food before and all food to come tastes disturbingly close to ash. With every bite cones longing along with the knowledge that this isn’t even their greatest flavour. Ambrosia is still out there (bacon).
Eddy has lost purpose

4·1 month agoI’m being hyperbolic but I do genuinely dislike Luarocks.
Everywhere I’ve used them I’m met with issues. May they be incorrect versions being downloaded, Luarocks just not doing anything but giving no error, or the worse problem none of the packages working correctly. Client using luarocks for windows and it not working or the correct Luarocks just having a fit on windows too. Glad for wsl2 when a client needs me to use windows
Lua can be quite hyper specific to each usecase too. It’s supposed to be. This leads to a disconnect between the generic packages and the Lua code used for neovim, the love engine, Warcraft and Roblox Moding, or whatever.
Lua does have inherit issues that make package management difficult. Each version of Lua is intended to be its own segregated ecosystem. This is a major strongsuut for Lua as it can change wildly while devs can know their version will be supported, and stay stagnant (on purpose). However, this hurts the package ecosystem as it can be difficult to support each Lua leading to an even smaller number of packages.
I’ve never had a good experience when using luarocks or anything that requires Luarocks.

43·1 month agoI fucking hate luarocks. Seriously fuck lua rocks. Lua shouldn’t have a package manager. I don’t have any solid reason for that and will support any other language having one but Lua? Nope. No package manager for you. You’ve lost that privilage.

sorrybookbroke@sh.itjust.workstoNPCs (NonPolitical Comics)@piefed.social•[META] (Updated) Should comments be held to the same rules as posts?English
13·1 month agoNot posted or commented yet but I’d hope for a political safe zone.
I love politics but understand others would love a spot they can decompress without random spurts of “Welcome home from your 12 hour shift, they killed a kid while you were gone”
I like the people trying to make the comics seem political though and have been tempted to start going out of my way to find the most tacit connection I can
Edit: comics, not comments

My sisters cat goes fucking crazy for these cat toy springs. Anything else she gets bored of quickly but the springs? Never.
She’ll put them in difficult to get to spots before trying to get them back, she’ll fling them across the room, and she’ll hide them wherever she can. Maybe the goblin will just hold it in her mouth while she walks. Once we found a spring in a box of rice. She just kinda dropped it in and we didn’t notice until it came out

It’s such a nice game. Shocking how well it holds up. Honestly I think it looks better than dark souls 1 graphically. More solid more put together more real.
