Also German, not a HipHop fan, but I’d argue context makes the difference there. I’ve also been in religious circles that - for all their faults - were most definitely not Nazis, where they liked to use a sort of holding out your hand to bless someone gesture.
That doesn’t mean there aren’t some assholes in either cultures, of course, and I can attest that I’ve seen people in rock and metal circles that were clearly using them as a Nazi salute (not to mention some genuinely shitty people and bands). Most of us may be great, but as the size of a given community increases, so does the probability of it containing dickheads. I imagine the HipHop scene won’t be exempt from that rule.
