This should be the default everywhere. Unbelievable that it isn’t really. Amazing that they expect people to do a job where you have to hear real life, real time horror stories every day for hours a day and just cope.
seriously. my brother-in-law was a dispatcher for years and it took a real toll on him.
he quit one day when a child the same age as his was gravely injured and couldn’t get in touch with my sister to make sure all was well. can’t blame him.
My county in MD has had this for years. We have a psychologist with a specialty in PTSD and first responder treatment on staff with multiple therapists in a separate section within the department. That’s been around long enough that our first psychiatrist retired from the position.
Unfortunately I’m certain that there are very few places as progressive as we are.
wait. unlimited access to healthcare? isn’t it “communism” when you’re not a retired killer-machine over there?
They didn’t have such a thing until now? Seriously?
And for now only Arizona. The rest of the US continues without.
Great! Now the rest of the country! ✊
And considering the kind of stories they have to deal with on the regular, they absolutely need it
