I nonjokingly think too many of them get their ideas about dating, and women in general, from fiction, or even “dating sims.”
Maybe you’re right, but do those “influencers” also tell them that feeemales are supposed to have plastic-like skin, cartoon proportions, and “I fight for senpai” levels of unconditional infatuation for any slob that approaches them?

That’s a charitable interpretation. I think most of them get their ideas on those subjects from redpill/manosphere influencers.
