I’m gonna be honest. I don’t care how environmentally friendly new EVs will be. I don’t care what climate goals will be met if I switch. If the choice is between some EV with a giant iPad in the middle with no buttons, 24/7 cameras connected to a random corporate server, the ability to drive itself away at the company’s discretion, and liable to be towed without violating anything; and a gas burning 2009 Toyota that still has a CD player, I’m going to buy the Toyota.
Good news, then: ZYBERTRUKKKs are a massive waste of resources, even the source of their electricity is dubious and out-of-sight-out-of-mind externality at best, and a used car is probably going to be less polluting then a new oversized dumpster on wheels rolling around anyway.
Isn’t this just a blatant fucking 4th amendment violation?
Who are you gonna call? The cops?
It surely is but he’s going to uphold that? Meanwhile - the cops do what they do - emphasis mine.
Sergeant Ben Therriault, president of the Richmond Police Officers Association, told the Chronicle that these activities aren’t uncommon among police today. He said offers often seek out video from Tesla vehicles for potential evidence, and while he says they often make direct contact with owners and get the evidence voluntarily, a warrant — and a tow — sometimes prove necessary, should contact not be established in a timely manner. (Therriault acknowledged to the Chronicle that a tow is "the most drastic thing you could do.”)
Sure thing Mr. Officer, take my only car, I hope you catch that single mother who forgot to pay for that bottle of Flintstones vitamins!
It is a Tesla, so it’s highly unlikely to belong to someone with no other method of transportation available to them.
However, the footage being used to punisg poor people is absolutely going to happen.
Steal from the petit to punish the proles, all to protect the rich.
still love the c— hey, wait. where’s my car?
your tattoo says “based”, your tattoo says “redpilled”!
Dude Where’s My Car 2: Electric Boogaloo

Roger Ebert’s ghost via Ouija board: “I can’t believe you roused me from my eternal slumber to review this “film”, 1/4.”
The A. V. Club: “This is the second worst thing Ashton Kutcher has done, behind supporting Danny Masterson and ahead of the final season of Two and a Half Men.”
dae if you aren’t doing anything wrong you have nothing to be afraid of
the long list of “compelling reasons not to buy a Tesla” just got longer
“You will own nothing and be happy.”
Yeah, but only because whatever slop the ruling class
wants me to ownis willing to tolerate me owning ain’t going to be worth it.I’ve seen cops ask for Tesla footage before, but not seizure
if they’re asking for seizures just tell them you’ve got fentanyl in the tesla they just confiscated
Thankfully, people who own Teslas take their rights seriously. I’m sure a couple of them probably even know what the 4th amendment says.
This is exactly what I asked the founder of Cruise once… at what point will these cars become a tool of the state to spy on everyone? He laughed and said they had strong protections in place to prevent that from happening.
Absolute bullshit. There is no law that won’t get steamrolled to enable this when critical mass is hit.
