As for why I’m like this, I imagine it’s a combination of doing well in the genetic lottery combined with having reached a point of general comfort in my life that means I don’t suffer from the same desperation-induced inward focus that others do.

I travel a lot now. I traveled a lot in the past. I travel across Canada now and I traveled around Europe in the past. I have traveled a lot between Munich and the western Russia border.
I lived for three months in Reykjavík, for three months in Mazatlán, and for parts of a few years I lived a few months per year in Stockholm.

To treat them with more compassion. To react less sharply. For them to feel safer around me and with me.

I help software professionals make sense of and make peace with the dysfunction in their workplace. And I believe I’m doing that fairly well.
