Blocking an instance does solve the problem because then the user doesn’t have to see it themselves. You’re going down that dangerous path of “I don’t want to see something so neither should anyone else.”
If you as user block an instance that doesn’t really solve the problem, Threads is still federated and getting your stuff, it’s just hidden from you
