Who else has seen the movie? What did you think? I saw it once in the theater and look forward to seeing it again on streaming. I would say it was the best movie since Alien 3 for me. I enjoyed the android character immensely and thought that actor had a great performance. Overall, I thought it was very good, probably a B or B+ from me.

I loved it, put it well above Prometheus and Covenant. Loved the worldbuilding of the corporate-owned mining planets.

As is tradition, the acting by the android (David Jonsson) was a highlight. I loved the range he got to display across the movie.

    spoiler here

the Alien-human hybrid was suitably disturbing

Its no Alien 1 or Alien 2 but I had a great time.

Yea I thought it was good. It’s basically a remake of Alien (1), with bits from Resurrection, all in all very little risk taking. Unfortunately forgettable secondary cast. Visually stunning, and great pacing & editing.

I think I’m in the minority that really didn’t like it at all. I thought it started well, but then it hit the first wobble with the >!CGI Ian Holm. I figured it was just a dodgy scene or two but then it just kept going!<. Then by the end when >!the half human Alien showed up!< I was like “for fucks sake.”

I don’t know why this has become a thing multiple times with this franchise, but I don’t want >!half-human pink aliens or lengthy examinations into everything tangentially related to every side prop from the first movie!<. Just do a regular Aliens film!

I can see all of this. I do agree about Bilbo being crammed in and the secondary characters being just Alien fodder. And yeah, regular xenos are fine, stop fucking about with them. But all in all I still enjoyed it way morecthan the last 2. Maybe the last 3.

    I dug it.

Alien is my favorite horror movie and deff on my top 5 all time list. Aliens is one of the best sequels ever made. 3 and 4 I don’t hate and need to rewatch as it’s been several years. Covenant and Prometheus were awful as part of the Alien franchise (imo) and probably just mid scifi movies if removed from it (again, imo). I feel like they actually took Alien out of cosmic horror and made it less scary and dulled a lot of the mystery.

Romulus was deff a throw back to the og. There was a lot of call-back and fan service, some of which worked, some not so much. But at the end of the day, it felt like I was back in the Alien universe. It was scary. It was dirty. It was dangerous- not just because the characters were stupid and caused their own deaths.

The “Get away from her…” line fell very flat for me. Too shoehorned in there.

Loved the start, showing the misery of living under The Company’s heel.

      The rest felt pretty rushed.

Very similar to my own impressions of this and former movies. Solid take! 👍🏻 The Assembly cut of Alien 3 is a very solid movie in my opinion. I’d rank Romulus just behind it due to some of the fan service maybe not landing consistently with people. I’d see a Romulus sequel if one is made.

I mean, if I’m being honest, I’d go see a Covenant/Prometheus sequel if they made one. Not that I think it would be good, but that I’m holding out hope that it might be.
