You will not stop hearing about it after it ends because 1/6 of the country will believe the election was stolen regardless of the result.

An over correction. Previously, the two parties would decide on a candidate behind closed doors then start campaigning in August.

Then, some good faith people and some corporations stood up and was like “Hey, that means we have no say in who the party selects to be the nominee” so they have their whole primary system to allow for corporations and weirdos who vote in the primary to participate in “democracy”

But then in those days, people had to go around in hot air balloons made out of racism and asbestos as their main mode of transport, so each state’s primaries are spaced out because candidates had to take forever to go from state to state (except some that happen on the same day).

And because running a candidate is expensive, each of the potential candidates have to allow time to get corporate donors (or rarely, grassroots support)

So the process went from 6-8 weeks to several months.

And then the capitalists saw the revenue generated from simply covering the primary races. Those ad spots from the campaigning candidates themselves aside, they could run ads next to reports or footage of the debates.

And then they thought “wow, wouldn’t it be better if we started covering the race even earlier in the year??”

And now the circus is in town for basically a whole year every 4 years, meaning libs and chuds spend 25% of their time on earth pretending they live in a democracy when even outside of this absurd system, they have gerrymandering, an electoral college and your vote generally only mattering in a swing state. The other 75% of the time is for treats, which is increasingly consumed out of spite for the voters of the other party.

This type of “”“political engagement”“” is not only accepted, it’s promoted by the system because other types of engagement such as direct action actually get things done and the system likes the status quo.

Not to mention the proud history of rigging the election. I don’t know if they still do it, but the fact they pretend any guy was voted in before the 70’s is crazy. When Nixon said he wasn’t a crook, he just meant “were all doing it!”
Kennedy getting dead people to vote for him, Dubya getting Florida… Yeah what a democracy.

      Money.

It’s all for money. So much fundraising during election times. See if you say the election was stolen you can keep raising money after the election too for even more money. It’s great. It’s fine. Definitely no problem.

Just wanna add that the theatrics are incredibly important too. They need to demonstrate and reinforce that their electoral system is the ONLY thing that matters and there are no alternatives or room for taking matters into your own hands via community action, grassroots campaigning, etc. You pick your democrat or republican ghoul and you’ll like it. And we are going to create a false reality via media bombardment 1+ year out to show you how impregnable and immovable this “reality” is

because the whole fucking thing is a contrived media event to gin up support for our masters and make billions off of suckers. Its a seasonal TV show, the vote is just the season finale to trick everyone to believing this shit is actually necessary

We can push the Dems left after that election. It’s important to vote blue no matter what in ‘26 because Glorb Shitto is pushing for horrible policy. ‘28 is president year, and we gotta Vote Blue and never question.

Maybe in 2030 if the Republicans aren’t trying to take away rights… we might be able to slightly nudge the Dems left, but politely, and after informing them we we’ll still vote no matter what. agony

Eh, I’m kind of looking forward to it. We all know we won’t get to see anyone we like win, I made my peace with that years ago. But I will get to see a large group of Americans that I really despise lose. And they will not be able to handle it.

Fuckin mood. I feel like one of those jackasses watching the first Manhattan Project tests from afar. There will come a day where I quote Oppenheimer regarding these times; but right now? I just wanna watch the geyser of liberal tears that are certain to occur like the first mushroom cloud to fruit skyward from afar with a pair of binoculars in one hand, and a blunt between the fingers of the other.

Red or blue, doesn’t matter to me. I just know it’s gonna be some fuckery and I can’t wait to watch.

My wife and I are going on an international vacation and will be in the air through election night and into the next day. It’s on a Boeing, so assuming we don’t crash it’s going to be our own little sanity preservation chamber. Hoping that we can make it through the whole two weeks without even hearing about the results.

  • election season is every 2 years and most of my life it lasted for 4 years, but now that all the elections are stolen/challenged, it’s more like 4.5 years with recalls reducing the season to like 1-1.5 years.

it is an efficient and extravagant system for fundraising.

Honestlyyyyy. I’m so tired of everything revolving around what’s happening in the shitlands, even in other countries we’re talking about it, pretending like it makes a difference whether it’s Kamala or Trump.

Unfortunately I have some bad news - the election will most likely go on for weeks after election day. In GOP controlled states - the GOP will lie and say there are “discrepancies”. No proof, data or facts will be provided but eventually at least one case will go to the supreme court. And - of course - Trump wins on that day but a façade of democracy and legal procedures plus paperwork is needed so there’ll be another couple weeks were the supreme court pretends to debate the issue.

The “deadline” is January 6th. My hunch is that election ends mid-December.

Hahaha you think it’s going to end after the election? Midterms are coming up in just a little over two years! Not to mention counting the votes!
