The Albanese Government’s new $2.3 billion deal with the US private prison operator, Management and Training Corporation (MTC), to run Australia’s onshore immigration detention network marks a troubling departure from its promise that “detention will occur in a government-run immigration detention centre."
Australia: “We’re going to be proud of our forefathers who were forced to serve their prison sentence here by creating our own for-profit prison system! Now we can finally play with the big boys USA and China.”

It’s not like they had a lot to choose from (though they could have tried not outsourcing at all…) as the other big names here like Serco, Wilsons and G4 have proven themselves even worse.
