Another week in the books. Let’s chat about manga in the general discussion thread! Feel free to use this thread for questions, comments, recommendations, etc.

Like normal, please be careful with spoilers. I wrote a guide about spoilers in case you need a refresher on how to handle them (also linked in the sidebar).

I have been absolutely slammed with work this past week, so I haven’t been able to read much, but here are a couple things I can mention:

A new-to-me series I found randomly this past week that I have really enjoyed. It’s about two girls that connect through reading the same book on the train. It has a bunch of great characters in it that feel more real than a lot of the characters we see in anime/manga. There are complicated feelings flying around that aren’t just ambiguous because some character is super dense, but because it is unclear to the reader too at that point how the character feels. It does a great job of slowly making those kinds of feelings clearer, not just to the characters, but to the reader as well. It’s good.

This series just had its final volume extra posted to mangadex this past week. The chapter itself isn’t really anything extraordinary, but it does provide me a good enough excuse to plug this series one final time. I really liked it a lot and it is one of those romance series that doesn’t just end with a confession. We actually continue the story past that point.

Another entry in the post-apocalyptic, slice-of-life genre for me. This one is about an elf and her sidekick whose job it is to survey ancient signposts around the continent (I think, the actual worldbuilding specifics are quite vague). However, it basically means that this series involves these two riding motorcycles around a world that has obviously seen better days. A decent mix of action, fantasy, SOL.

A 4-koma about a really cute college boy that crossdresses and dates his friend who is totally into this new cute version of him. The actual relationship dynamics at play are a bit sus (there is some coercion to initiate the relationship), but it’s been fun. Not sure I am going to continue this one though as it feels pretty by the book for this kind of thing.
