Can we stop letting the same 4 people make these posts to just get the dopamine kicks from starting the arguments over all over again?
It’s pointless grandstanding to get a fight started and that is basically it and it’s the same people every time. People should just be blocking these accounts cause if anyone seems like permanently online trolls or shills it’s these accounts making these exact posts like clockwork every single week.
It’s lazy and the mods seem to let it happen cause they get a kick from the banning they can dish out.
can we stop trying to silence the opinions of users even when we disagree with them? I’m tired of hearing the old rhetoric that drones on and on about about pointless grandstanding when the argument doesn’t fit into the narrative that certain groups are pushing on here.
your comment exemplifies the duality of Lemmy showing that it doesn’t matter what side you’re on, that silencing users you disagree with can be agreed upon by both sides.
it’s absurd that anyone thinks that this kind of open request for an oppressive call to action is acceptable.
it’s lazy and the mods seem to let it happen because they get a kick from the banning they can dish out.
It’s within the margins of civility. Barely. Voicing an opinion is 100% encouraged here. Even if it’s unpopular. If the opinion contains direct insults, or is disruptively antagonistic, it violates the rule.
Obviously but it does often to appear to be one sided on who is doing the slapping.
The fact that it felt like I had to make comment calling out the single sided removal of comments after the other party originated their comment with direct Nazi insults is a stain on being seen above the fights and about being cordial in here.
Letting these constant posts where they are intended to be antagonistic to a well known section of Lemmy at this point means you are either letting it happen on purpose or essentially have a masochism kick. I understand free speech but the first rule is about civility which these posts are specifically aiming to break. I just don’t understand it.
If you want to make a meme poking fun of conservatives and democrats, you are welcome to. That is a huge portion of the content in this community.
As far as the removal of comments- it’s takes time to go over the comment, the accusation, and the decision for removal. There are also other requests in the queue. Had you not notified me that the offending comment wasn’t removed, there’s a good chance I would have gotten to it.
While not perfect, we do try very hard to remain neutral.
If you feel the content in this community is biased towards one side- be my guest and create content to balance it.
It’s not about balance. I don’t think we should specifically be picking fights just to get dopamine from forming a scapegoat out of people that stick their head up each time they are publicly insulted.
This isn’t for poking fun this is for retaining a sense of control in who they can punch down on when stressed and leaving it up to moderate the fights after they occur is bad moderation in my opinion. It immediately breaks the first rule by directly referring to others in the community and inviting them to speak up so that they can be berated. Users here in other comments have confirmed keeping a database of everyone they dislike to use as a way to demonish them and likely treat these posts like a feeding ground for arguments.
This is like keeping the dump open to the public because some kids like to play in it, while disregarding their “play” is often direct bullying. These posts do little to serve a community and do a lot to fracture it for the appeasement of a few.
I am done arguing my point though. I hope you and the other moderators take it into some consideration as truly it makes this place less sociable in favor for engagement. And it doesn’t inspire me to want to tell anyone else to come here for more of this themselves.
Maybe consider that this type of community isn’t for you. I don’t mean that in a negative or aggressive way, but just as a point of consideration. We’d never turn anyone away, and we’d hate for anyone to not feel welcome,…
Political Memes range for silly to serious, sarcastic to sardonic.

Is that so?
question, how is the original comment not breaking rule 1?

Yup. I don’t speak for the sound of my lips flapping.
If it’s not productive I don’t see why this kind of discourse should continue.
I believe you have arrived at the reasoning for the removals. Slap fighting is prohibited.
