Played a lot this week. For those on the fence this game feels amazing. Terrific gun play and movement. This is a real ‘back-to-basics’ battlefield-like shooter. I highly recommend jumping in on it.
I have a steam deck, I have been following it for quite a bit, but I haven’t bought it yet because developers are planning to implement Faceit that is not compatible with linux
You will still be able to play on community servers which will continue to use EAC.
Thanks, are these servers populated and easy to browse?
Yes, I often use the server browser instead of “Quick Play” so I can find a server that’s 24/7 a specific game mode, instead of controlled by Vote. (One of the only ways to play “Rush”, for instance)
By battlefield, do you mean like 1942 or the BF3+ CoD style shit?
BF3 and cod for sure. You’ll get sprayed by someone with a meta vector who is also leaping through the window at the same time.
The game winds me up, but it’s enjoyable when I’m drunk. Make of that what you will
I would say not too far off BF3. There is a drone and I would say the sniping is a little too strong to the point where a few people play it like CSGO. But it’s nothing like CoD or the newer battlefields.
Edit: By new CoDs I mean no wall running or jet packs. No dumb kill streaks. There is an element of run and gun but it’s limited if effectiveness.
I’m gonna buy it this week when I get paid
I’m always a little skeptical when there’s so much hype online around something and wasn’t sure if this was just a meme game at first, but it’s actually a very well done game.
Yeah it looks like Roblox and it has some quirks, but it’s damn impressive so far and a very fun game.
The game really shines when it makes the most realistic possible weapons/vehicles models/skins, but has the Roblox-looking player models with realistic skins.
I hope they keep that balance (the models themselves are super fake, but everything else is ‘realistic’) because it really heightens the game.
The games my brain associates it with the most while playing are Battlefield 2, Bad Company 2 (which is large praise), and a visual hint of Roblox.
Totally caught me off guard, I’m surprised how much I enjoy it.
When it comes to releases. The most important days to watch playercount/sales are day 1, week 1, week 2(typically numbers start to drop off due to players getting bored and jumping onto the next game) and week 4(long term).
If the player count survives week 4, then its likely going to stay
I don’t know if it’s as simple as that, but I think long term support, community engagement and updates are maybe more of an indicator of longevity, but there’s definitely truth to what you’re saying.
A lot of it is also just plain luck and timing. Look at Rocket League, there was a whole another proto-Rocket League (Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars) that nobody really knew about on PS3 that had a very loyal cult following and look at how Rocket League blew up on the next iteration and how the devs keep updating and tweaking it still.
I don’t know, it’s all very complicated and I hope Battlebit keeps improving and the devs don’t go crazy and hopefully it’s not just a flavor of the month game like so many others before it.
Of course its not the be all and end all, but its the major indicator for a games success out of the gate. Day 1 or even week 1 playerbase counts dont matter, its usually much after that shows if people are willing to play it at its current state and stay. Patches and updates exiat for those who stayed to have more content and potentially drive more users in, but for a strictly online game especially one that touts 128v128, keeping a sustained playerbase initially matters a lot for momentum.
Even if it ends up being a fad of the month and fades away, I think I got my money’s worth just from how good these weeks have been. I do hope it sustains, though.
I refunded it.
I had fun for about 5 seconds when I spawned in with 120 other people at the start of a map. Dozens of people were chatting at once over voice comm. When the timer ended we all surged forward in a big monke wave and some guy was playing Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” - that was really, truly fun.
Then the rest of the time I spent getting sniped from forever away by unseen snipers, getting base camped, and spawning in on my squad mates and dying right away. I realized just how bad the grind would be to unlock the weapons and I reflexively noped out of BattleBit.
People seemed friendly enough but it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
I felt the same so I started playing on the smaller modes (64v64/32v32). They feel a lot different and are way more fun.
No point buying this unless the devs reverse their plans to add FaceIT
Same boat for me, supposedly they are moving away from FACEIT though according to a recent dev chat (apologies for the reddit link if people care- https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/14v3sgb/in_a_recent_weekly_recap_with_the_battlebit_devs/)
Here’s a clip from the recap that mentions it – would be helpful if someone had a link to the discord conversation
This is exactly my stance too. I’d love to try this game, but I’d be buying it just for it to not work soon. Seems like a poor financial decision to me.
Awesome to see the devs so active and the game so stable. I’ve been having a lot of fun playing with friends. I will say that it’s a bit annoying that you have to grind to get to the good weapons. Snipers especially only start being good at level 65, which is a big time commitment. I’m getting close after playing about 40 hours.
Until they add the option to disable bobbing this game is literally unplayable for me. It makes me annoyed that they haven’t done it already and the rumours are that they are against adding this option despite it being a basic accessibility feature.
This game is so good, needs a little polish here and there, but one of the most fun games I’ve played
I heard that because of the overwhelming popularity the devs have had to react to the server strain and focus on mostly fixes. I’m fine with the focus being on “under the hood” improvements with these updates for now. There is a lot of content to explore for brand new players so atm they can easily take their time on the content updates.
I’ve been having fun with it, about 15 hours so far.
My only complaints are when people vault over stuff, or climb up ladders/rope, they can start firing their gun way too soon while they’re still halfway through the animation. Hopefully they fix that by adding a delay so you have to be fully over the object or off the ladder/rope to use your gun.
I mean, technically a trigger could be pulled while vaulting, its just your aim would be terrible, though perhaps less bad with a smaller firearm like a pistol.
Does anyone know if they’ll ever add SSAO? I enjoy the art style, but I feel the lighting looks a little flat without textures - SSAO would help give everything a bit more depth.
I played some of this last week with some friends. I really want to like it as an OG battlefield player, but we all felt like it was just way too easy to die. There’s just no time to react to anything. Hoping it gets better!
Skill issue
Play the smaller modes (64v64/30v30). They feel very different and you have room to play well versus just jumping into a meat grinder.
Really enjoying the game. I wish it was 10 eur and not 15 though, as I have a lot of friends on the fence who think 15 is too much
After playing it, I was honestly surprised it was only 15. They could have easily charged 20 or 30 for this game. If it had a fraction of the graphical aesthetics of any AAA game, we’d be lauding it as one of the best fps of the last few years. The fact that it being a Roblox looker is the only thing holding it back is amazing.
Completely worth it at the price point IMO. More care seems to have been put into this than some games 4x the price.
I got bored of the latest BF beta when it was available and that was free meanwhile I’ve been addicted to this game

15 is so cheap for what this game offers. Would’ve gladly payed double.
