A month after a student opened fire at Abundant Life Christian School, another killed a classmate at Antioch High School. Both were active in an internet subculture that glorifies mass shooters and encourages young people to commit attacks.
The thing is, you can’t arrest people for potential future crimes (if they haven’t published concrete plans to do it anywhere). Unless the guy outright stated he was going to shoot up a school, there’s really nothing you can do, unless you want the FBI to start rounding up everyone that’s messaged anyone after they’ve done a crime.
Using the same tools these non-cops are using anyway? Because that’s what happened. Non-cops were able to figure this out and keep tabs on these people without some sort of secret surveillance network.
So many people see the world in black and white terms.

Red flag laws are a thing no?
Could probably take their guns and ammo away though.
You sure as fuck can get them to keep an eye on such people if they were willing to do so.
They only keep an eye on civil rights protestors and police accountability activists. You don’t want to give them more tools to do that.
