I realized I don’t really care how people refer to me, it feels a bit weird if it’s not a he/she/they, I feel the same way for all of them like they can refer to me, does that mean I fall under the gender spectrum? or imply it? what other things could lead to me finding a label that describes me if I fall under the spectrum. I mean, I am still thinking about it, and I might be or might not be, but i am kind of lost so I just want to mainly focus on the fact I am comfertable with any pronouns to give me some basic understanding. So id like to hear your thoughts on using any/all pronouns and transness.

Maybe. Or it might come off as you not caring which pronouns they use for you, and as far as I know apathy isn’t a gender.

Right but there is a difference between identifying as agender (knowing you lack a gender, and preferring not to be referred to by a gender, etc.) and just feeling apathetic about what pronouns are used. The indifference could be caused by an agender identity, but it could be caused by something else.

I dunno how trans folk feel or think about it, and it’s pretty obvious how jerks would react to it. But from an outside perspective, I think most allies are going to either ask, or assume gender neutrality without a specific preference, or perhaps fluidity. Maybe a newer ally is going to be a confused and ask what it means, but that’s a good thing, isn’t it?

In my experience, folks that list any/all tend to be not trans, and fall under one of the non binary self labels.

That last part was really confusing for a second until I remembered that not everyone thinks of transgender as an umbrella term that includes nonbinary.

Yeah, tbh, offline I don’t know anyone that does. It’s one of those things where non binary, gender fluid, and similar self labels function differently on a social level, so they get lumped as a separate grouping. I’ve seen/heard it explained that trans as a grouping leans so heavily into the binary via the distinct needs of medical transition that (despite there being overlap) it “feels” different.

I end up following the conventions of people I know irl as the default because that’s where I use the terminology the most, so those speech patterns get etched in.

NB people can identify as trans. Usually NB people who go through any type of medical transition identify as trans. It’s quite common.

I only really started addressing where I fit in the spectrum of things late in life. And something that a lot of people on the non-binary sub on Reddit said was that non-binary is trans because to be trans doesn’t mean ‘has transitioned’, it means that you don’t identify with your assigned gender at birth. Simply put, transgender means not cisgender.

But there also seems to be a general understanding that not everyone sees it the same way or has come to the same conclusions. Something I’ve found since I started really addressing some things, is that online at least, nb people seem to be pretty lax and open minded as far as labels and definitions. Probably because a lot are still actively in the process of questioning and self discovery themselves. If there’s even a finish line for self discovery in the first place.

If you’re considering using different pronouns that’s not exactly cis is it?

Can we please not go around assuming someone else’s gender due to presentation? You have a history of violating the Egg prime directive and invalidating other people and you need to stop.
