Okay I have to ask, why does everyone here act like most anarchists are supper supportive of AES states? The tiny community of anarchists active here are but they’re a pretty uniquely chill with MLs bunch. Even the coolest anarchists I’ve known irl still generally had nothing nice to say about the USSR, China and the DPRK, Cuba sometimes gets a pass but that’s about it.
I consider myself neutral on “AES” states, which seems like support in comparison to the frothing racist hatred and compulsive lying that passes for political consciousness in the west. it’s that sort of thing that I think no serious anarchist has any business engaging in, but I’ll admit it’s way more common than it ought to be. I follow plenty of anti-imperialist anarchists on Tumblr tho.
They’re supportive of many AES states but its not because they are AES. Simplest way to explain it is they habitually support underdogs. The USSR was and China is, too big and scary. But Vietnam, Palestine, Rojava, Cuba, Chile, Bolivia, Yemen, Chiapas, maybe - if you’re lucky - Venezuela, full send support.
DPRK is the standout exception for them. Usually they just need a history lesson.

This has not been my experience at all.
