They should have left Data dead. Twice.
They were finding equally absurd ways to bring Spiner back for each season of Picard.
And this is Cleetus Soong, long-lost half-step-brother, thrice removed of Noonian Soong.
This is Datum, a secret Soong-type android built between Lore and Data but deactivated because Dr Soong didn’t like the idea of a new android learning the basics of motor functions and humanoid behavior look 75 years old.
I often think how bittersweet it would have been to keep Picard season 3 mostly intact, but have Soji take Data’s place at the helm of the 1701-D in the finale. Instead they just dropped her like she never existed.
She was off with Wesley playing “Traveler”. Would have liked some kind of follow-up, aside from only Wesley’s appearance in Prodigy.
That was her 22nd century “ancestor,” though, right? Picard was a funny show.
The oldness wasn’t so visible as the um, roundness. Data had reached maximum storage density, if you catch my drift.
It’s ironic that the least gracefully aged TNG cast member happened to be the one who played the ageless android.
