The fastest way to heat food and drink might also rank as the fastest route to ingesting massive quantities of minuscule plastic particles, says new research led by Husker engineers.

We just can’t win, every day there’s some terrible new thing humanity is doing. If we aren’t destroying the earth with microplastics, we’re destroying ourselves with them. Smh.

I’ve been avoiding plastic in the microwave for years, after reading something similar in the late 00s. Glass containers only.

Am I supposed to be microwaving things with the lid on?

The best design for microwaving is containers with a lid which has a little opening to let the steam out. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen a lid that doesn’t use plastic to some degree.

I really dislike food stuck to the sides and roof of the microwave, maybe I should try covering it with a plate.

I just put a glass plate over the glass container in the microwave, which I often then use to eat the food I’m microwaving.

Yeah, if I ever use a lid on something in the microwave, it’s glass too.

I mostly avoid plastics in the microwave. Completely avoid it for my kids. I’m pretty sure I’m already fucked, so I’m a bit lax for me.
