Cue the LinkedIn lunatic ranting that employment candidates asking critical questions of hiring organizations are a cancer on all industries.
What’s a studder?
A cow that performed three miracles?
This is my reality.
Oh yes, this is delicious! I’m making a note now.
It will ensure you don’t get hired is all it will do.
I would ask if they would rather an employee who is skilled and will do fair work for fair pay or if they want someone who will say anything to get paid.
If you don’t need the money right now, you can dodge bullets.
“We opened a position in response to feedback from the person whose former role you’re interviewing for.”
“You increased staffing?”
“No. We created an opening in response to their feedback.”
They promoted that former person to customer.
“We fixed the glitch”

He fed us a suggestion, then we kicked his back.
We politely asked him not to leave an ass print on the door on his way out, because we’re a family here.
does the bathroom have a good fart fan
Or at least an air freshener…
If they don’t answer with the STAR method I am walking
whats the STAR method?
Same Type Attack Bon-- wait
Situation, Task, Action, Result.
A basic guideline for answering questions with some degree of completeness.
Specifically its for answering behavioural interview questions which go “tell be about a time you did X and what happened as a result?”
If i wanted to be jobless, sure. lol
Don’t be so sure. Honestly, even if this question would have made me feel uncomfortable in the moment, I can tell you that it would elevate my opinion of any candidate I was interviewing because it’s actually a very thoughtful but also important thing to consider. I actually can’t recall at the moment anybody ever asking something like this in any interview I’ve done – normally it’s the basic stuff like “do you like working here” or “can you walk me through your typical day” kind of questions.
I’m sure that in your interviews youre actually evaluating the candidate. My interviews are just to make sure I’m willing to actually show up.
It behooves you to ask the interviewer some questions, too. It helps to give you an idea about whether or not you want to work there.
There were definitely times when I had a bad interview, I still got the job, and I wished that I hadn’t. Don’t ignore warning signs because you’re desperate! Sometimes it’s better to have no job at all.
For the people that can’t afford not to take the crappy job, sometimes it’s best to just take it but keep looking for something better. Not everybody has money in the bank to be picky about employment.
Not sure about you, but I don’t think having no job would be good for me.
That’s why you accept the job and continue to apply/interview
Absolutely!
…If you have skills.
Thank you.
People who post shit like this seem to think the streets are littered with such a rich variety of job offers that we can pick out the best ones like we’re shopping for avocados, completely oblivious to the fact that the vast, vast majority of us need a job right fucking now to survive, and are going to happily snag the first offer we get no matter what evil fuck it’s for.
I’ve been there, too. I ignored warning signs because I was desperate, and then wished I hadn’t later. Saying that you will accept any job that comes your way is a good route to getting fucked over.
You might think that you need the money, but it really isn’t worth it when you lose your job a week later and your temp agency won’t answer your calls anymore. There are some crazy, toxic workplaces out there.
Remember post COVID how people were quiet quitting and CEO’s were talking about how workers had too much power?
I remember.
That’s why they’re so desperate to make AI happen
I think that was before mass firings because the CEOs think that the ai will save us or at least overworked employees will that have to save the company. Trying to apply for a tech job right is terrible.
If your argument is that this is good advice, mine is that it’s only good advice for someone who has the luxury of putting it into practice.
Let me make sure my family has a home and won’t starve, and then I’ll happily join you on your quest to improve corporate culture.
No, my argument is that there is a class war and we’re losing it.

Attention, single moms working at McDonald’s: In case you were unaware, there is currently a class war going on, and according to this guy I was talking to on Lemmy, we’re losing, and it’s your fault because you chose feeding your kid over being a smart ass in the job interview.
Edit: for those of you making yourselves mad over my little splash of reality here, kindly do the following once your breathing normalizes:
-
Re-familiarize yourself with Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
-
Examine your own life and circumstances and ask yourself if you’re truly the revolutionary you’re pretending to be right now.
This post was never about class war. It’s bad interview advice and that’s it. Settle down.
You’re itching for a fight, when nobody started a fight with you. I am not saying whether this is good or bad advice. I am saying that the fact that this looks like bad advice is because we are losing the class war. I am saying that I remember a time when the balance of power was different, when we temporarily had the upper hand in the class struggle due to the COVID weirdness. During that time, people were actually doing things like quiet quitting, and strong-arming employers, and that in that environment advice like the one in the meme did not come off as bad advice.
I’m describing a dynamic, not blaming workers. If I had anything to say to the «single moms wokring at McDonalds» (you did an instrumentalization there, like the «kids in Africa») that would be «hey, how can I help you folks unionize?».
Thank you for articulating your point. That’s all I needed to hear.
It’s bad interview advice and that’s it.
Why do you think so?
It is about class warfare. Of course it is. You being bad capitalism by having kids and buying a house without a stable job sure sounds like a you problem. Maybe you should settle down and put some more job applications in?

You’re right. Better to lick the boot. Don’t even think about saying anything that might even be slightly uncomfortable, just accept what they let you have and be happy, right? Fuckin scab
You’re talking mostly to Americans here- what else do you expect?
I’m an American. I’m kicking fascist ass every single day. And every pansy crying about how “it’s too hard” has no idea how hard things are really gonna get if they keep taking it lying down.
Unless you’re an American, and unless you’re fighting too, shut the fuck up. No one needs to hear from you.
If you were kicking fascist ass every day we’d know your name.
If licking boots is the only thing keeping someone alive, maybe don’t berate them for licking boots. It must be really nice living rent free in your mom’s house but many of us have to choose between having jobs or being homeless
It must be really nice living rent free in your mom’s house
Nice projection, loser. I paid off my mortgage on the house i didn’t inherit and now I support my wife, a child, and two dogs on a business I built.
You’re a little cry baby piss ant boot licker, and nobody asked or cares what you think.
Sure thing bud. You definitely didn’t lick any boots on your way to success lmao
Incorrect.
If licking boots is the only thing keeping someone alive, they have ZERO excuses not to fight back.
Jesus Christ. Listen to yourself. “The only thing keeping someone alive” means the alternative is death. Do not fucking tell people that they have no excuse not to fight back when fighting back kills them.
We’re talking about employers being dirtbags here. This cause is not worth dying on the streets because you can’t hold down a job. You serve your species better by tolerating minor transgressions so you can more meaningfully fight against the larger ones. Any individual donating $5 to charity is helping mankind infinitely more than you will if you intentionally bomb every job interview to the point where you have to survive on said charity.
Every day, more posts from Americans revealing that they never believed the bullshit “values” their country’s been dining out on for 200 years.
Every day, more posts from lemmings revealing that they’re utterly politically illiterate. I’m some kind of hypocrite because I’m not willing to literally end my own life in the name of moderately better employment practices?
The “elite” don’t have any more power than what you give them. At the very least, shut the fuck up if the only thing you can think to say is negative, defeatist garbage.
If nobody ever questioned anything, nothing would ever change. Be the change you want to see, and stop shitting on people for actually standing up for something.
I don’t think they’re shitting on anyone, just acknowledging that this is a very good way to not get a job
And if everyone maintains that mentality, then nothing will ever change.
Whether that’s true or not, there was no shitting to be found.
To be clear, that “mentality” is not wanting to die starving on the streets
No, that mentality is subservience.
Sure. I’ll be a good little subservient peon, in my warm house with my food, and you can starve outside in the cold because you made yourself unhirable in protest against a system you would literally rather die than engage with
Boot isn’t food m8.
Why?
Because it makes a prospective employee look petulant and disagreeable
I don’t see that at all. Any employer who reacts negatively to a simple question like that would be sus. Why would anybody want to work at a place that saw feedback as a threat?
I love that you’re offended because of my comment about me not having job opportunities.
Social media in a nutshell, tbh.Maybe not everything is about you, hmmm?
Do you ask any questions during an interview?
No, I’ve never interviewed for a job that i was willing to not get.
You know, little opportunity and all.
Calling something out ≠ offense.
I don’t have many job opportunities so this doesn’t really apply to me lol
STOP SHITTING ON PEOPLE
That’s much better, you’re right.
“Employees were complaining about low morale. So we threw them a mandatory after work pizza party for team building! It was a real hit, almost everyone showed up!”
“It wasn’t even paid. They just really wanted
their jobpizza.”Pizza papers over a multitude of sins.
This would a funny question at my work.
You want a change? Scope it and present at the sprint planning. If it makes sense it gets built.
Happens multiple times every 2-3 weeks.
But that’s a code change, that’s like saying “we changed the products from being in the back to being on the shelves”.
Do you also change your process? Do you divide the work differently? Did you hire a new person to take care of those tasks that are never prioritized and then suddenly become emergency fixes?
Depends on the scope! To stick with your analogy, there’s currently a product you need to drive around to the back of the store, load in your truck, and assemble at home.
There will be a new area in the store dedicated to that product 95% assembled, with people who need to be knowledgeable on 5% that customers need to do.
Kinda clumsy I know, maybe I’m missing the point of the post.
I gathered that your earlier comment’s wording implied your primary work was in computer programming, so the responder assumed the kinds of changes you were talking about were normal changes to the product/code, as opposed to operational changes within the company. What you described sounds like it does appropriately qualify for the “operational” category.
What’s studdering? Something to do with breeding animals, I assume?
I think they mean if they put on an eye piece and start repairing a watch in front of you. Happened to me so many times.

Ahhh - thanks for the excellent explanation, my fellow simian!
Ape alone… weak. Apes together… talk shit on internet
Amen, brother!
Kinda feels weird to say considering I’m atheist…
Moass when?
Seeing this picture just made me more grateful for the job I have. Things might suck sometimes, but at least I’m not hunched over a table using tweezers to hand-thread watch studs.
More power to those who can do it, there’s probably a calm satisfaction to be gained. But man, it looks tedious.
Its when a group of students are studying particularly hard
Must be difficult for them to study when they’re particularly hard.
red foreman; twitchy
What does ‘studdering’ mean, could you inform me by any chance?
It’s what happens after farding and shidding.
Everyone’s making jokes but if you’re serious they meant “stuttering”.
Edit: per vocabulary.com
If you’ve ever heard a young child stammer and trip over his words, you know what it means to stutter.
Use the verb stutter when someone gets stuck on certain word sounds, either because she’s speaking too quickly or eagerly, or because she has an actual speech disorder, also called a stutter. The word itself is somewhat onomatopoeic — a word that sounds like what it means — with its repeated t sounds. Stutter is thought to be related to the Middle Low German word stoten, “to knock or strike against,” which is the way a stutterer’s words sometimes sound.
It’s when a person can’t spelt very good.
Now I don’t want to fix the title.
Good on you for leaving it. Boosts engagement and eff em anyways.
Also, I didn’t know titles could be edited. Is it not like Reddit in that way?
“engagement” only impacts a a couple of the sorting algorithms (active, and??) available here.
Every part of a post can be edited. But I agree with OP in standing by it once others have brought it up
Edit: this place is unlike reddit in many ways but seeing the downvotes on your question I have to accept there’s more similarities than I would like.
Oh, and I guess it would be Active, Hot, and Scaled?
You think that if someone points out a mistake you should double-down and be proud?
Who are you, Donald Trump?
Your average hiring manager for IC level employees will have no insight into that.
Add I the end of the question, “that had a positive impact on you” they’re an employee too afterall
“We are actually a 3rd party responsible for finding and hiring candidates for our clients. We largely operate independently from the company.”
That too is an insight into the company.
