Some questions from a noob (me) who has only recently played Undertale and Delta Rune:

  1. At the end of the true pacifist route of Undertale, we learn that Flowey had the soul of Astriel. How did that happen and why?

  2. We also learn that the human child who had the player’s chosen name is dead, and you’re actually playing as Frisk. How did the first human child die?

  3. Is Kris in Deltarune actually just Frisk? I’m guessing yes, and Toby just changed their name.

  4. In Deltarune we’re seeing Kris/Frisk’s body take out its soul and put it in various places. I’m assuming the reason for this is yet to be revealed in the game’s upcoming chapters?

    1. After Asriel died, his dust was spread over the garden with Golden Flowers. Alphys tried an experiment injecting Determination into the first flower that bloomed there, which became Flowey.
    2. Chara fell ill after consuming buttercups. As they were dying, they hatched a plan to have Asriel absorb their soul and break the barrier, but this went awry and led to Asriel being killed by humans on the surface.

    4. In Undertale, Frisk appears to be a player self-insert, though this is eventually subverted by the big reveal at the end. In Deltarune, right from the beginning the game is practically beating you over the head with the fact that Kris is not you. The player is actually controlling the Soul, and at times Kris will fight back and separate from the Soul to gain some autonomy. We don’t yet know why though.
