Almost immediately after making the previous post, I came up with a much better way fix the board sliding back, with the exact same zip tie.
Even the translucent card looks good now!

I feel like hot glue would be a much less finicky solution.
Eh, I wouldn’t call this finicky at all. I just eyballed two pieces of zip tie with scissors and put little drops of glue in between.
Much more elegant than using glue which would be difficult to remove
Hot glue is pretty easy to remove, but I’m not a huge fan of gluing in the board regardless. And those perfectly fitting stoppers feel pretty satisfying.
