    I am so increadibly out of the loop, and without context I find it hard to grasp what is going on here. At face value it looks like TanteRegenbogen points out that transphobic/bigoted takes are often posted by burner accounts - if true a valid point. I can see how they may be biased or didn’t realize screenshots (btw what screenshots?) were doctored. But I do not understand how pointing out the abuse of alt accounts is defending transphobia.

    Edit: Can someone fill me in?

      one of the ‘day old’ ‘burner accounts’ they’re alluding to is introvertturtle@lemmy.zip. it is a 5 month old account that first got banned from .ml and dbzer0 for being transphobic; then they show up in meanwhileongrad the next day to complain about authoritarian moderation and tankies. they were even getting plenty of traction for the usual shitting on .ml/hexbear and calling people tankies:

      but then they were way too open about their transphobia, which got their comments moderated and a 3 day ban.

      mind you this kind of transphobia is not particularly anomalous over on meanwhileongrad and is usually tolerated. here’s a highly upvoted thread from last year where the OP is complaining about another user getting banned for transphobia for saying that they don’t believe a large portion of hexbear users are trans. the OOP said a lot of other gross shit too, which was part of why they got banned.

      ‘i don’t like someones politics so i don’t believe they’re trans and i’m not respecting them’ is essentially the same sentiment as ‘someone was rude to me so i’m not respecting pronouns’.

      that particular kind of transphobia has been a pattern of behavior over there for some time, not just burner accounts.

      Two prominent queer FAF users have been the target of bots creating accounts on other instances using their username and spewing bigotry as well as targetting them directly. Shit like this. TanteRegenbogen’s indirect defense of them is saying that these targeted attacks on queer people are not real, that they are making them up, in order to create a divide between db0 and lemmy.world. Which is a ridiculous claim, completely non-sensical. It’s neither necessary nor effective to make up some random alts spewing anti-queer bigotry to make LW seem like a zionist instance. The more likely scenario is that it’s some 4chan or r/drama trolls (there recently was a 4chan lemmy instance spun up, filled exclusively with anti-trans bigotry). That they are trying to drive drama. Of course L.W and piefed are not helping this by actually going on the offensive whenever they feel slighted instead of deescalating and that’s what they get blamed for.
