I’m not sure how any leftist looked at Spanberger and thought she was anything but a corporate centrist. Still better than the alternative but that doesn’t say much.

The executioner with empathy, a well honed blade, a strong arm, and excellent aim is better than a cross-eyed executioner who enjoys inflicting pain with a dull axe.

The opposite actually. His first year-and-a-half, maybe two years as a senator, his voting record was fine. He wasn’t super radical, but if you look up voting record scores he was one of the more left-leaning senators until the end of his 2nd year.

The stroke happened before he took office. Aa fun as it is to joke about conservatism being caused by brain damage, it just doesn’t line uo with the facts for Fetterman.

There is definite line with Fetterman before and after his stroke. There is no doubt in my mind that that is what happened to him.

I just looked her up on Wikipedia. It seems she secured the nomination without being contested. Idk, feels like as progressives we should take some responsibility if no one even ran against her. Giving up isn’t virtuous

You want to continue electing corporatist democrats and fascist republicans in order to further destabilize the country with the largest nuclear stockpile in the world? Instead of electing progressives who would actually try to correct course?

You clearly haven’t thought very deeply on this.

Whether you’re American or not, this will hurt you too. America collapsing would have incredible ripples to the rest of the world. Entire economies would collapse. That’s the best case, assuming the collapse of the US also isn’t preceded by invasions of other countries, which is likely. In addition, assuming you care about people, there would be a massive amount of suffering, in the US and elsewhere. Also, wherever you are, your government would probably start spending money on the outcome, whatever that is, so it’d effect your taxes as well, if you’re purely selfish and that’s the only thing that matters to you.

If collapse is what it comes to then that’s what it comes to. Wishing for it is fucked up though. It’s probably about the worst outcome for everyone possible, except for maybe empires who want to come in and claim the resources. That won’t help you, but I guess it’ll help whatever empire you’re supporting.

Liberals should know all about that, seeing as their voter base easily dwarfs the leftists theyre always griping about not voting (even though we do). Blame white liberals, they’re the perpetual disappointment that gets conveniently ignored every time y’all got a bone to pick over your party’s constant floundering

Can we blame Hakeem Jeffries too for being a milquetoast corporatist neoliberal? Or is it just the white liberals that we can blame?

So does that mean we can blame him for being a milquetoast neoliberal, or does he get to play the race card since the other commenter said we should blame “white liberals”?

Oh I was just being silly and making fun of dropping the race card. Like how people will then say why does it have to be about race when in reality it is always about race and sex for that matter.

I don’t think anyone is saying you can’t have the opinion that the minority leader is a wishy washy flim-flan man who serves corporate overlords. I think this is a valid but probably reductionist viewpoint.

I think bring up his race was a predictable response from someone who is pushing back against someone singling out whites. I think it is fair but obviously a little agonistic.

Honestly the original poster and many other people may or may not be racists and may or may not know it. If they weren’t being racist then they could of just been repeating what they heard or even misspoke.

You never really know unless they confirm. And even then that is not the end of it. Just because someone is racist or holds a racist belief doesn’t mean they always have to.

White libs consistently do not show up to the polls

Oh fuck off, as if leftists consistently show up to vote. Who was it again who decided to boycott the election in 2024 and helped trump get elected because they couldn’t hold their nose and vote for the person who wasn’t perfect but also want a fascist?

                (doubly so for white men)

Just stop with this cheap, worn-out virtue signal. You’re not scoring any points. No one thinks you’re morally superior just because you use “white men” as a punching bag on the internet.

There’s far more nuance than that to every situation, and what you’re doing is both racist and sexist. So unless you can cite some reputable statistics that show a disproportionate amount of non-voting eligible voters are white men, just stop.

Did the math for you. 80% of self identified US leftists vote. White libs alone nearly double the amount of leftists in america. The amount of registered white libs that don’t show up to vote is close to the total amount of leftists in the country. If white liberals showed up to the polls as consistently as leftist did, kamala would’ve won by a landslide
