“Jailbreak the Tesla” is the second single from Injury Reserve’s self-titled debut album: it features Oregon rapper Aminé and has been released on March 21st, 2019.
The track marks the second time that Injury Reserve and Aminé have collaborated together, after their 2018 effort “Campfire,” also dealing with the importance of cars and… featuring a Tesla in the funny music video.
Plus, Ritchie with a T made a brief cameo in Aminé’s video clip for “Reel It In.”
Throughout rap’s recent history, the electric car brand, born by an idea of the South African born American businessman Elon Musk (mentioned in the song, together with his girlfriend, the experimental musician Grimes), have been mentioned as symbols of: more sustainable energy alternatives, as done in Common’s “Hustle Harder;” status and luxury, as done in Chris Brown’s “High End;” more simply, as a cool product, as done in Jaden Smith’s “Batman.” But here, the unconventional quartet takes the theme to another level, as the Tesla car becomes the central focus of their song.
“Jailbreak” is a technical term which means to bypass security measures of an electronic device in order to obtain full access or unlock protected features.
