If you believe the campaign, it’s because they were ‘disruptive’ at other campaign events. It sounds like they are trying to make it about them wearing a hijab.

If you watch the video of them whining at the staffer who kept them out, it’s full of gems:

        1. They claim Islamophobia is a kind of racism; presumably you could blow their mind by showing them a white Muslim, a black Muslim, and an East Asian Muslim hanging out.
        2. They casually assume the staffer is LGBTQ based on their lisp.
        3. They loudly claim to be wearing hijabs, but never point the camera at themselves, so there’s no evidence they have hijabs on.
        4. As you highlight, it’s them insisting they’re being excluded due to their hijabs. The staffer never explains why (and it’s self-evident from the video that this is because they’re being too confrontational, so the staffer decided to check out of the conversation rather than engage - when they ask, it’s disingenuous and inflammatory).

There’s an absolute shitshow of a news and politics sub I’m on where the chief mod posted the clip of this on Twitter, as if that qualified as news.

They were barred because opposition to the genocide every centrist has always wanted is unwelcome in Biden’s party.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The incident was captured on video and shared to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday by an account named Nevadans for Palestinian Liberation.

The viral video, which has garnered over 2m views, shows an unidentified staffer for the Get the Vote Out event in Las Vegas on Saturday telling the women that they are not allowed to enter the venue.

A spokesperson with the Biden-Harris campaign said that the women were specifically barred after staff discovered that they had disrupted previous events with Democratic lawmakers.

A spokesperson with the Clark County Democrats in Nevada forwarded the Biden-Harris campaign’s response to the Guardian when asked for comment.

A source close to the Biden-Harris campaign added that the women had previously protested during a speech by the Nevada senator Jacky Rosen earlier this month.

The government affairs director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (Cair), Robert McCaw, said in a statement issued on Tuesday that “the American people deserve to know whether these women were profiled and barred from an event featuring Vice President Harris because they were visibly Muslim”.

I for one cannot believe that the Biden-Harris administration would ever profile someone on race.

The guy that wrote the crime bill locking up millions of black men, didnt want his children growing up in a racial jungle, and told a black man “you ain’t black” would never profile someone based on race.
