The big deal is me realising in hindsight that I could’ve had the message the sheep was trying to convey to them written on the scroll instead of the scroll being a magic “speak with animals” scroll. Bonus moral gutpunch if they realise that they just killed a polymorphed sentient being.
In the moment, I was too stunned to properly act on that and basically said “No. That’s the quest giver. You can’t kill him.”
