Fuck printers, and fuck personal printers.
I’m not in tech support, thankfully, but in a network-oriented role and trying to hunt down just what the fuck kind of device is associated with a given IP and who is responsible for it is a nightmare when you’ve got an inventory system where “DHCP” is a valid entry for IPs, hostnames are optional, manually entered and not validated against some uniform pattern, serial number entries that differ from the actual device’s in several possible ways and no MAC-Address…
Assuming they’re logged in the inventory at all, that is.
And they are all USB and want to print to each other.
And nobody can grasp the concept that you can’t print to a printer if it is connected to a computer that is powered off.
PC Load Letter
And they’re all still using windows xp
And all of the printers are too old to have official drivers available. And the users insist upon being able to print double-sided A4.
That’s a heller hell 😂
It’s all Dymo LabelWriter 450’s and they’re on Windows 11. And half are on print servers, half of which are -not- dymo print servers, but are actually Chinesium knock-offs for $5 less. You have an outdated version of Dymo Connect and can only get in touch with the overseas support department, and all PCs are Optiplex 8040s with 8GB RAM and spinny HDDs. Oh, and that bitch Lisa calls every day.
